Uniflight of Grand Prairie, Texas, has been awarded a repair station certificate by Mexico’s Director General of Civil Aeronautics. “We have a team of mechanics that we can send to Mexico on short notice due to our proximity to Dallas-Fort Worth airport, and for any helicopter we’re less than one fuel load from the Texas/Mexico border,” said Manny Ortiz, director of maintenance for the MRO. “And many of our staff here in Grand Prairie are bilingual.”

Maintenance management software developer Mxi Technologies has signed a long-term agreement with Boeing as a key partner in the ongoing support and delivery of Boeing’s GoldCare program. Mxi Technologies has been a key integration partner for Boeing’s GoldCare aftermarket service by providing the Maintenix software as the core of Boeing’s platform combining onboard airframe systems, technical documentation, full MRO capability and Boeing supply chain. First developed for the 787 Dreamliner, the platform is now offered on other Boeings.
Bell Helicopter operators have more maintenance options with Winnipeg, Manitoba-based Cadorath Aerospace. The company has developed 123 new Bell engineering repairs in the past year and has more than 600 approved repairs for the Bell line overall.
“We have expanded the Bell 206B, 206L, 407, 204, 205, 212 and 412 rework lines,” said Gerry Cadorath, the company’s president and CEO. “We have targeted 180 more for 2012.”
Cleveland-based MRO Constant Aviation is offering a complete Beechjet thrust-reverser maintenance program that includes repair and overhaul, free loaners and an exchange program with no over-and-above charges.
“We’ve found that the thrust reversers are one of the most common issues Beechjet operators are dealing with, so we’ve invested in several units to be exchanges and loaners. We can repair the full assembly or just the thrust-reverser doors [for 20 percent less cost than competitors] and with a faster turnaround time,” said Stephen Maiden, president of Constant Aviation.
Gulfstream has appointed Jet Aviation St. Louis as a factory-authorized service center. The approval gives the facility OEM authorization to perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on the Gulfstream G350, G400, G450, G500, G550, GIV/IV-SP and GV. “This designation allows us to provide warranty support for Gulfstream aircraft and facilitates our access to parts and Gulfstream technical support,” said Charles Krugh, senior vice president and general manager.
New Part 121 regulations require significant electrical wiring interconnect systems (EWIS) training for technicians and inspectors. Global Jet Services has developed the Practical Aircraft Wiring course for Group 1 (Maintenance Personnel-Repairs), Group 2 (Inspection Personnel) and Group 4 (Maintainers-removal & installation of equipment).
Embraer and Hawker Pacific have extended the service center’s capabilities to cover Phenom 300 and Lineage 1000 maintenance. Under the terms of the agreement Hawker Pacific becomes the first Embraer-authorized service center in the Asia-Pacific region to offer maintenance services for all of Embraer’s executive jets. The MRO already provides maintenance services for Embraer’s Phenom 100 and Legacy 600/650 at its facility in Singapore.
StandardAero has signed a long-term agreement with NordStar Airlines’ parent company, Taimyr Airlines, to perform engine maintenance on NordStar’s fleet of new ATR 42-500s. Under the terms of the agreement, StandardAero will implement a total engine asset management program for the airline’s fleet of five ATR42s. The program provides a full package of support services.
GE Aviation and France-based Aeromecanic have signed an agreement for Aeromecanic to become an authorized service center (ASC) for the M601 and H80 turboprop engines. The ASC designation allows the MRO to offer comprehensive line maintenance, removals and re-installations of engines and LRU, on-wing heavy repairs and manage a pool of spare/rental engines for the Western Europe and North Africa region. GE Aviation will provide Aeromecanic with material support and training.
ExecuJet Asia on Subang Airport in Kuala Lumpur was awarded the first direct Cayman Islands Aircraft Maintenance Organization approval in Malaysia. The OTAR Part 145 Option 2 approval permits the MRO to work on Cayman-registered Bombardier Global Expresses, Challenger 300s and Challenger 604/605s and Gulfstream IV/IV-SPs. It complements approvals granted by the Malaysia DCA, the Philippines CAAP and the Isle of Man CAA, together with the appointment last year by Bombardier as an authorized line facility on all models.
