The FAA has withdrawn a Notice of Proposed Rule Making to revise the system of ratings and require repair stations to establish a quality program. The withdrawal followed more than 500 comments from the public.

Dassault Falcon recently hosted its first Falcon E-Forum. Some 32 Falcon 7X customers from the U.S., France, Mexico, Brazil, Switzerland and the UK took part in the first Internet-based session. The seminar was developed by the manufacturer to provide an exchange of information and best practices with Falcon operators.

Gulfstream Aerospace added another European parts distribution center to its product support network. The Corjet Europe facility in Madrid, Spain, will serve as a strategic parts distribution facility for high-usage items commonly required by Gulfstream customers. Located at Madrid Barajas Airport, the facility currently holds almost $4 million in Gulfstream parts, with plans for expansion this year.

Hawker Beechcraft has added Germany-based Aerodata at Braunschweig (BWE) Airport to its network of authorized service centers. In addition to aircraft maintenance, Aerodata can provide turnkey special-mission aircraft worldwide. Aerodata is also a source of flight inspection systems. Hawker Beechcraft has also added Jeddah, Saudi Arabia-based Arabian Aircraft Service (Arabasco) to the Hawker 800 authorized service center network.

Last September 1, a Convair CV-580 (N587X) operated by Air Tahoma crashed while attempting to return to Rickenbacker International Airport (LCK) in Columbus, Ohio. The captain, first officer and a company pilot sitting in the jumpseat were killed. It was the first flight after Phase 1 and Phase 2 maintenance that included flight-control cable rigging.
