Bombardier Aerospace has enhanced its Middle East presence with the expansion of its mobile response team (MRT) into the region. The MRT is composed of six EASA-licensed technical experts operating under Bombardier maintenance approval. The team can now respond to AOGs across the Middle East and has already supported customers in Qatar and Jordan, according to a Bombardier spokesman.

German airline Air Berlin Group has signed an agreement under which Lufthansa Technik will provide comprehensive component support for its entire fleet. Lufthansa Technik will manage the supply of components for the airline’s Boeing 737s, Airbus A320s and A330s and Bombardier Q400s. Air Berlin will receive on-site service at its Berlin and Düsseldorf hubs.

The FAA is proposing an Airworthiness Directive (AD) for the Piaggio Avanti based upon an operator report of a short circuit between a generator power cable and an anti-ice shutoff valve, which was caused by chafing between the cable and the valve. The insulation of the cable and surrounding sleeve were worn off as a result.

The FAA is still investigating what caused an Aruban-registered Airbus A319 Corporate Jetliner to lose its emergency slide shortly after takeoff from Dallas Love Field last month. The privately owned business jet was on a routine maintenance-related test flight out of StandardAero’s Associated Air Center. According to initial reports, both the emergency slide and door fell off the aircraft.

A survey conducted in mid-November of Aeronautical Repair Station Association (ARSA) members indicates that the downturn in the global economy has taken a toll on repair stations. The survey included 144 responses from ARSA repair station and corporate members.
