King Aerospace Commercial Corporation (KACC) is expanding its Ardmore, Okla. facility to serve the customization, modification, refurbishment and completion of corporate and large executive aircraft. KACC began construction this month on a 25,000-sq-ft shop to accommodate executive aircraft cabinetry, upholstery and panel coverings.
Keith Weaver, executive vice president, told AIN, “We anticipate the facility will be completed and we’ll have moved in by about May next year. We’re looking forward to serving this customer base.”
Over the next two months, Bombardier will deploy dedicated mobile response parties (MRP) to seven regions. Each MRP will be staffed by a crew of two (an avionics and a maintenance technician) and equipped with a customized truck carrying tooling to perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance at an operator’s location. Each MRP truck features diagnostics equipment supporting all Bombardier business aircraft lines.
Gulfstream Aerospace has introduced product-specific mobile applications for each type currently in production. The apps for the Gulfstream G150, G280, G450, G550 and G650 are available now in the Apple App Store.
Each app features interactive elements, including an introduction to the aircraft in the form of an interactive brochure; an interactive worldwide city-pair range map; worldwide product support information; and an extensive photo gallery.
Dassault Falcon 7X, 900LX and 2000LX passengers will be the first to experience the latest cabin innovations from Rockwell Collins on the FalconCabin HD+ cabin management system. The new optional features include Skybox, unveiled this week by Rockwell Collins at the NBAA Convention. Skybox makes it possible to have Hollywood-protected content in the aircraft play on a television in the cabin or on individual iPads. It is also possible to take content from individual iPads and display it on the cabin television.
Duncan Aviation has written HD Cabin Entertainment Upgrades: Requirements, Upgrade Paths and Alternatives, a free, downloadable field guide about high definition-capable entertainment systems for business aircraft that discusses image quality, upgrade alternatives and equipment selection. “There is a lot of confusion about what is required to achieve HD image quality in the cabin,” said Chad Ostertag, avionics installation sales rep. “There’s more to it than simply adding HD monitors.
Associated Air Center, StandardAero’s large executive aircraft completions center in Dallas, has partnered with Boeing to validate a Service Bulletin for Boeing Business Jet operators on noise suppression in the cockpit. AAC is the first to install the noise-suppression system in the BBJ in accordance with the Boeing-issued Service Bulletin. AAC’s successful validation makes this upgrade available now to other BBJ operators.
Jet Aviation St. Louis is slated to receive its first BBJ in April for scheduled maintenance and interior upgrades. The project includes the first installation of Boeing’s enhanced vision system service bulletins for an aircraft in private use. The BBJ will undergo its 12-year inspection and landing-gear overhaul. Additionally, some interior surfaces of the aircraft will be refinished and some headliner panels will be recovered.
James Curtis has joined Kansas Aviation as director of sales. Curtis will be involved in all aspects of domestic and international sales across all market segments and product lines. He has 20 years’ experience direct aircraft maintenance, aviation sales and MRO business development. He holds an A&P with inspection authorization and a B.S. in professional aeronautics from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.
The FAA is proposing an Airworthiness Directive for the Eurocopter AS332C, L and L1 to require initial and repetitive inspections of the outer skin, butt strap and fuselage frame for a crack and modification of the helicopter. The proposed AD is prompted by an AD issued by the EASA that states a crack was discovered in a fuselage frame during a daily check.
