Twin Commander Aircraft and its authorized service centers are responding to accommodate owners and operators affected by a recent airworthiness directive calling for inspection and modification of the aft pressure-bulkhead area.

Twin Commander proposed, and the FAA recently approved, a procedure that provides some operators relief from the strict compliance requirements in AD 2013-09-05, which is based on Service Bulletin (SB) 241.

Canadian completion, refurbishment and MRO specialist Flying Colours has broken ground on the first phase of a $3.39 million, three-phase expansion plan at its headquarters in Peterborough, Ontario. The new 20,000-sq-ft hangar being added to the existing three-hangar complex is scheduled for completion in next year’s first quarter. It will be equipped to handle refurbishment projects, avionics installations and upgrades, heavy maintenance and full interior green completion work.

Greenpoint Aerospace has acquired Jet Works Air Center, a business aircraft completion, refurbishment and MRO facility at Denton (Texas) Municipal Airport. Greenpoint plans to perform interior refurbishment and executive completion work, exterior paint, avionics repair and installation and MRO work at the new location. .

Jet Aviation Singapore is constructing a new hangar at Seletar Aerospace Park slated to be completed in early February next year. The new 100,900-sq-ft structure will triple the size of the current facility, and it will have two floors providing 43,700 sq ft of space for shops and offices. The new facility will also add 100,965 sq ft of apron area.

The new construction, which is alongside Jet Aviation Singapore’s current maintenance and FBO operation, will be unveiled at an opening celebration at the Singapore Airshow in February.

Elliott Aviation is pursuing STCs for Aircell’s new ATG 2000 broadband system in the Hawker 800/850/900, Phenom 300, King Air 350 and King Air B200/B200GT. It hopes to have the approval in hand by next year’s first quarter. The Aircell ATG 2000 is a cabin broadband wireless system aimed at midsize and light jets and turboprops. It allows passengers to connect to the Internet on their laptops, smartphones and tablets.

Jet Support Services has launched an educational video series as part of a continuing education program offered in conjunction with the National Aircraft Finance Association. Targeting aircraft appraisers and the aircraft finance market, it examines critical maintenance issues for both engines and airframes and how they affect the valuation of business jets.

As part of a broader customer support initiative, Breeze-Eastern says it has made significant (54-percent) reductions in overhaul and repair turnaround times over the past year. It is now expanding its customer support organization with new leadership, an expanded team and a new 24-hour support line. Breeze-Eastern designs and manufactures lifting and pulling devices for helicopters and military cargo aircraft, including rescue hoists, winches, cargo hooks and weapon-lifting systems.

Dassault Falcon announced two appointments within its customer service organization. Geoff Chick has been appointed to the position of vice president of customer service, where he will oversee the customer experience in the Western Hemisphere. Bob Sundin has been appointed president of Dassault Aircraft Services, the company-owned service center network. Both Sundin and Chick will report to Carlos Brana, senior vice president of Teterboro operations.

CRS Jet Spares has named Luis Tapia to its Repair Control Group as a customer advocate in the role of repair control coordinator. The CRS RCG, responsible for vendor and asset management, interfaces with customers on managing repairs and providing technical information. Tapia is a licensed A&P and has been in the aviation industry for more than 20 years in roles ranging from component repairman, manager of a repair station, sales regional manager to purchasing manager for a charter flight department.
