A shop supervisor for Aircraft Transparencies Repair (ATR) and Transparencies Engineering Group (TEG) is the latest employee convicted in a trial stemming from an aircraft parts conspiracy. Dennis Romero was convicted in U.S. District Court, Fort Lauderdale, Fla., for his participation in the conspiracy. The same jury acquitted three lower-level ATR mechanics and a salesperson. A separate mechanic, Hermes Reyes, pleaded guilty before the start of the trial.

Clear 4 Take Off Before/After Window

Fort Lauderdale, Fla.-based Clear 4 Take Off is offering cockpit and cabin window restoration on location. “We can do it at our facility in Fort Lauderdale, but we have a road crew that will go on location anywhere in the U.S.,” Thomas Esposito, president, told AIN. The company can completely refurbish windows provided they are within manufacturer-specified tolerance.

Flying Colours has received approval from the Riyadh-based General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) to carry out maintenance work on aircraft registered in Saudi Arabia. The approval allows the company to undertake continuing airworthiness and maintenance work on the Bombardier Challenger and Global Express and Dassault Falcons.

ST Aerospace has invested $1.5 million to set up a wholly owned services subsidiary: ST Aerospace Rotables (Star). Star will be headquartered in Singapore with marketing offices in the Americas, EMEA and Asia-Pacific. The new company was developed to drive ST Aerospace’s move into a new growth area focusing on rotable assets leasing, asset trading, rotables loans and exchange.

After three years of operations, Perfect Aviation has expanded its customer base and is moving into a larger facility on London Biggin Hill Airport. Perfect Aviation, which claims to be Switzerland’s only publicly listed business aviation management and charter operator, will move its UK subsidiary, Perfect Aviation UK, into an approximately 11,500-sq-ft hangar and office complex previously occupied by PremiAir.

ExecuJet Africa’s maintenance division has signed a Saab 340 aircraft service center agreement with defense and security company Saab. ExecuJet Maintenance South Africa holds SACAA and EASA Part 145 approval as well as most Southern Africa CAA approvals. The company specializes in maintenance service for most turboprops and business jets. The MRO is an approved Bombardier, Hawker Beechcraft, Dassault Falcon and Gulfstream facility and offers 24-hour maintenance service.

Constant Aviation has named Cory Hankins West Coast regional sales manager. He will be responsible for selling maintenance, avionics, interior modifications/refurbishments, composite/accessory repairs and parts in the West Coast region for the Cleveland Hopkins International Airport-based MRO provider. Hankins joined Constant Aviation from Universal Aviation, where he was the business development manager for the Western U.S. Before that, Hankins sold maintenance, avionics, interiors and engine agreements in the West Coast region for Pentastar Aviation.

West Star Aviation has hired Greg Byrnes as senior vice president for sales. He replaces Rick Brainard, who was promoted to vice president for business development. Previously, Byrnes spent 17 years with Gulfstream Aerospace, where his most recent position was vice president of sales and new business development. Byrnes will be responsible for generating maintenance and modification sales for all West Star Aviation locations. Brainard will develop new business for all West Star locations.

The FAA is proposing an Airworthiness Directive for the Eurocopter AS332C, AS332L and AS332L1. It is based on reports of electro-valve power supply disruptions while the helicopter is on the ground. It causes the landing gear to retract and the helicopter nose to drop, resulting in damage to the forward section of the helicopter’s underside. The AD would require modifying the main landing-gear control panel 33G, connector 100G and wiring.
