Vector Aerospace, a Vancouver-based maintenance, repair and overhaul service, recently loaded four upgraded Eurocopter AS332L helicopters onto an Antonov An-124 at Vancouver International Airport. Two of the AS332Ls were bound for Australia for use in offshore oil rig servicing contracts and the other two were sent to Afghanistan for utility operations.

Marshall Aerospace and Defence Group acquired Beechcraft’s flagship European MRO business, Hawker Beechcraft Limited, on September 2. Located at Broughton in the UK’s northwest corner, the facility was also known as Hawker Beechcraft Services Chester and has provided maintenance, modification, paint and upgrade services to Hawker and Beechcraft owners for more than 50 years.

Aircell will expand its Gogo Biz service to include voice capabilities beginning October 1. Gogo Biz was launched in 2009 as an Internet-only service in the business aviation market. Because Gogo Biz operates on Aircell’s air-to-ground technology, its voice calls are among the clearest in aviation, on par with mobile phone calls on the ground, the company claims.

Shadin Avionics received TSO approval for a data converter that integrates an iPad into the cockpit to access real-time flight data. The flyTab Aircraft Interface Module (Aim) was developed in collaboration with the Avionics & Systems Integration Group as a part of the flyTab Class 2 electronic flight bag. The current Aim provides an Arinc 429 interface for two iPads from a single unit. According to the company, Arinc 429, RS-232, RS-422, RS-485, discrete and MIL-STD-1553 data can be easily added and certified.

Go Aviation Middle East has begun providing professional aircraft detailing and polishing services at Dubai International Airport and Dubai World Central-Al Maktoum International Airport. Marc Lelah, the company’s vice president, said, “We are here to transform the aircraft appearance industry in the Middle East and reduce the carbon footprint of the UAE. Dry washing is going to make a positive impact on the environment here in Dubai and throughout the Middle East.”

Zenith Aviation, a distributor of Dornier 328 parts and spares, is seeking multiple aircraft parts and spares consignment opportunities. The company recently invested more than $3 million in additional climate-controlled warehouse space and an automated inventory storage and retrieval system. The 44,000-sq-ft warehouse can hold up to 500,000 individual line items. According to the company, the consignor retains title to the parts until they leave the Zenith warehouse.

CAE has begun simulator training at its facility in Delhi, India. The training center, a joint venture between CAE and Interglobe, houses two full-flight simulators providing pilot and maintenance technician training for the region. According to the company, the six simulator bays will be able to train more than 5,000 professionals per year once they operating at full capacity. The center occupies 3.5 acres in the Greater Noida Industrial Area, about 25 miles southeast of Delhi.

Gulfstream Aerospace has appointed William Gibson as director of product support global distribution. In this newly created position, Gibson will manage all processes, procedures and operations related to the movement and warehousing of parts throughout the Gulfstream Product Support global distribution network. For the past 10 years Gibson worked for Honeywell, most recently as senior manager of customer operations for its space and defense segment.
