The FAA is seeking industry comment by September 4 on draft AC 150/5220-xx, which addresses automatic foreign object debris (FOD) detection and alerting systems evaluated by the FAA Technical Center and the University of Illinois Center of Excellence in Airport Technology.

Richmond Heights, Ohio-based Nextant Aerospace announced today that it has completed the initial certification flight for the Beechjet 400A/Hawker 400XP Rockwell Collins Pro Line 4 to Pro Line 21 flight deck upgrade. The company said it is on schedule for FAA STC approval for the Pro Line 21 upgrade in October, with installations and deliveries to follow immediately.

To streamline its process for certifying very light jets (VLJs), the FAA issued a notice of proposed rulemaking (NPRM) last week to amend the applicable certification standards for Part 23 jet airplanes. The agency said the NPRM is necessary to eliminate the current workload of processing exemptions, special conditions and equivalent levels of safety findings necessary to certify VLJs under Part 23.
