Gulfstream Aerospace has successfully installed a certified and fully operational Gulfstream Enhanced Vision System (EVS) on an in-service Air Force C-37A military version of the Gulfstream V. The EVS, jointly developed with Kollsman, Inc., is already being installed in a second C-37A and additional aircraft are scheduled to be retrofitted in the coming months.

This despite massive lobbying efforts by the General Aviation Coalition and others. A government plan to reopen DCA to some GA operators had reportedly incorporated elements of the NBAA’s proposed security letter of authorization (SLOA).
The case of Kittredge Aviation & David Wetherell v. Bombardier Aerospace, Bombardier, Inc. and General Electric has been slated for an April 2003 trial, according to David Bunis, partner, Dwyer & Collora, LLP, who represents the plaintiffs. “Bombardier and GE have produced many relevant documents to the case and we’re moving forward,” Bunis told AIN.

AirCell Inc. and Iridium Satellite LLC have reached an agreement that would allow AirCell to offer Iridium-based satellite communications products and services. As part of the agreement, AirCell is expanding its airborne telecommunications product line by developing new Iridium-based products to be offered through AirCell’s existing network of U.S. dealers, as well as through a newly formed and expanding network of international dealers.
Pratt & Whitney Canada has received certification of its new PW306C turbofan engine from both Transport Canada and the FAA. The PW306C is the latest addition to the eight-model PW300 family and has a flat-rated thrust of 5,686 lb. Cessna’s Citation Sovereign is the launch aircraft for the PW306C. The Sovereign flew for the first time with twin PW306Cs in February.
Italy’s Vulcanair expects to begin flying its single-turboprop VF600W by the end of next month. The fuselage of the nine-seat airplane was derived from the Vulcanair SF600A Canguro and its high wing from the Vulcanair 600 Viator. The company plans to build four or five pre-production aircraft to join the first prototype in the flight-test program.
