Bombardier has contracted with Aerosim-Mechtronix to provide flight management system (FMS) training software for its CRJ200, -700 and -900 family of regional jets. The deal will allow the airframer to use the software throughout its training organization, including at customer sites and eventually over the Internet for distance learning.

Rekkof Aircraft, the Dutch company trying to bring Fokker F70 and F100 twinjets back into production, has said the uncertain status of the Fairchild Dornier regional jets and the demise of BAE Systems’ Avro RJX program have boosted its prospects. The firm has now joined Embraer and Bombardier in the race to win an order for up to 60 regional jets from German regional operator Lufthansa CityLine.
Less than nine months into a pro-rate code-share contract with Frontier Airlines that called for the introduction of seven Bombardier CRJs into the Frontier system by year-end, Mesa Air Group has begun to curtail its relationship with the Denver-based low-fare carrier as a lingering environment of razor-thin yields has resulted in “less than satisfactory” returns for Mesa, according to a company official.

Bombardier announced during last month’s Zuhai Air Show that the Qingdao Fei Sheng International Aviation Technology Development Training Co. (Qingdao Fei Sheng Training Center), a joint venture between Bombardier Aerospace and Shandong Airlines, will provide initial training for Shanghai Airlines Bombardier CRJ200 regional jet pilots.
