BaySys Technologies in Accomac, Va., has been contracted to build and install an executive interior in a green Airbus A340-200 for a Middle Eastern customer… Fokker Services of Woensdrecht, Netherlands, is at work on the executive cabin of its first Airbus A318 Elite, to be finished in the middle of next year… Innotech Aviation is growing and recently added 35 designers to the completion center in Montreal.

Interiors development and certification specialist Millennium Concepts of Wichita has received an order from Quest Aircraft for follow-on production interiors for the Sandpoint, Idaho company’s Kodiak utility aircraft. Millennium has worked closely with Quest on design, certification and fabrication of components for the Kodiak’s various interior packages–the Tundra, Timberline and Summit.

Lufthansa Technik has won a contract to do the first interior for an executive version of Boeing’s new 747-8. The owner, whose identity has not been disclosed, signed a memorandum of understanding with the Hamburg, Germany-based interiors shop early last month. Lufthansa Technik expects the job to require as much as 18 months. This will be the company’s 16th 747 executive completion project.

AirCell has received European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) certification for its Axxess EZ satcom system on Bombardier’s Challenger 600, 601 and 604. Introduced late last year, the system was designed to reuse the MagnaStar system’s existing aircraft wiring and component locations, reducing installation downtime.

Steecon Enterprises has developed a bulkhead swinging door. The door is hinged at the top and bottom, and the door frame houses the motorized activation assembly. The door is activated by the push of a button (on the floor or door frame), remains open long enough for the user to pass through and then closes automatically. A resistance disengage switch ensures that the user cannot be trapped when the door closes.

Arinc Direct customers will soon be discovering new horizons. The business division of Annapolis, Md.-based Arinc expects to expand coverage of its Skylink in-flight satellite Ku broadband service to include the Caribbean, the North Atlantic and a “substantial” portion of Central and South America before year-end. Skylink service over North America has been available since 2005, and service over Europe was added last year.

In collaboration with TAG Aircraft Interiors, Italian design house Gianni Versace of Milan continues to move into the business aviation cabin. The two companies joined forces in April last year and at the NBAA Convention that year introduced a prototype executive seat.

Reed Exhibitions’ Aircraft Interiors Expo team is launching a new event for the Americas. The first show–Aircraft Interiors Expo Americas–is scheduled for September 9 through 11 in the Long Beach Convention Center in Long Beach, Calif. Concurrent with the event is the new Cabin Innovation Congress, a forum for discussion of cabin concepts and issues that affect the industry.

B/E Aerospace has begun deliveries of its new UltimateComfort executive seat with adjustments ranging from “comfortable” to “bliss.” The Miami-based company’s business jet group introduced the seat at the NBAA Convention and claims it is the first full-flat berthing accommodation for business aircraft.

Embraer Executive Aircraft has selected Alto Aviation of Leominster, Mass., as the baseline cabin entertainment audio system for all the Brazilian manufacturer’s Legacy 600s. The Alto system includes six mid/high enclosures, three subwoofers and two customized EQ amplifiers and weighs 21.4 pounds.
