Chicago-based BCI Jets recently launched “Genesis by BCI Jets,” a program to acquire high-value aircraft and convert them to an executive interior for resale. Partners in the program include interior design specialist Studio RD of Austin, Texas; Huron Park, Ontario-based completion center Goderich Aircraft; and post-delivery maintenance support provider ADX of Wilmington, Del.

Midcoast Aviation of Cahokia, Ill., has plans to build a new $9 million, 115,000-sq-ft hangar and has added more than 160 employees in the last year. The St. Louis Downtown Airport resident has seen its completion and refurbishment business nearly double since this time last year and is on track to generate a 40-percent growth in revenue to $195 million during the fiscal year that began last July 1.
Gulfstream Aerospace has selected the Honeywell Ovation C series cabin management system for its new G150.
The hangars at Lufthansa Technik are filling rapidly with new jobs, and there are more to come. The executive interiors specialist now has two Boeing 747-400s, an Airbus A319, a Boeing Business Jet and a Bombardier Challenger 850 in the works at its facility in Hamburg, Germany. All are green aircraft. In for major cabin refurbishment are two Boeing 777s and an MD-11 (the first Project U aircraft).
Premier/West Star has launched a Gulfstream program that, in addition to minor and major inspections and repairs and avionics service, will include exterior paint and cabin refurbishment. The program will be housed in an 80,000-sq-ft service facility at the company’s East Alton, Ill., location. According to Premier/West Star, its technicians at St.
North Bend Municipal Airport is about one-third of the way up the coast of Oregon, directly on scenic Coos Bay. For those who have a reason to visit, there’s a well equipped FBO. Ocean Air Aviation is diverse, with an air ambulance division, a charter department, line service, aircraft maintenance, catering and on-site Enterprise and Hertz rental cars.
Just in time for this year’s ski season, Rifle Air has acquired Corporate Aircraft Services and The Rifle Jet Center, the two existing FBOs at Garfield County Airport in Rifle, Colo. The operation will continue under the name Rifle Jet Center. This acquisition gives the now-consolidated FBO a total of more than 80,000 sq ft of heated hangar space.
Gerald R. Ford International Airport in Grand Rapids, Mich., now has a new 14,700-sq-ft, climate-controlled corporate jet hangar, as well as two beefed-up ramps. The announcement marks the culmination of two key expansion projects investing more than $7.5 million in Michigan’s second-busiest commercial airport. The new jet hangar, constructed by Northern Jet Management, will house up to nine aircraft.
On November 15, Runway 1-19 at Charles Wheeler Downtown Airport (MKC) in Kansas City, Mo., reopened following extensive work. The rehabilitation was the first phase of an ambitious $69.6 million program to update the 77-year-old airport, which serves as a general aviation reliever for Kansas City International.
