BAE Systems Regional Aircraft last month announced that its London Stansted airport-based partner, Inflite Engineering, completed the first conversion in the Avro Business Jet program–an Avro RJ70 fitted with a Design Q interior.

EADS Socata last month broke ground for a factory to be operated by Socaero, the company’s Moroccan subsidiary at Casablanca Mohammed V International Airport. Socaero, which already employs 90 people, will work on subassemblies for the TBM 850 turboprop single and for Socata’s aerostructure business. This includes elements for the Eurocopter AS 350/355 and Dassault Falcon 7X.
Embraer last month said it has received no indication that a Chinese government recommendation to its airlines to cancel or delay delivery of aircraft scheduled for delivery next year would further affect the Brazilian company’s production plans. The CAA also urged its carriers to ground and sell airplanes and allow leases to expire.
The Trump Organization and Sentient Flight Group have signed a partnership agreement in which Trump clients will have special access to Sentient’s programs. The program will include “one-off” trips to and from Trump locations, as well as preferred access to join the Sentient Jet Membership Program. Sentient members will also receive special benefits at Trump properties.
Fractional share operator Flight Options has furloughed more than 100 pilots, according to the International Brotherhood of Teamsters Local 1108, which is in contract negotiations with Flight Options. Some mechanics and operational personnel were also laid off, according to Flight Options.
Sparta, N.J.-based business aviation consultancy Brian Foley Associates last month said it believes the business jet market will recover sooner than previous estimates, despite “being nowhere near the bottom” of the current market cycle.
The market for very light jets (VLJs) is set to dip significantly as recession sweeps across western economies, according to PMI Media’s latest study, The Very Light Jet Market 2008-17: The Impact of the Global Financial Crisis. Some 4,610 VLJs worth $9.54 billion (2008 $) will be delivered during this 10-year period, PMI says.
In honor of the second anniversary of the launch of the Teterboro Airport Working Group’s “Pledge to the Community” program–which has as its mission improving the airport’s relations with its neighbors– aviation industry representatives, New Jersey politicians and representatives of the airport’s governing agency, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, met to take stock of the program’s efficacy.
EADS Socata last month appointed Executive Airlines the long-term area sales representative for the TBM 850 turboprop single in Australia and New Zealand. The French aircraft manufacturer also set up a TBM parts inventory to support the network of Australian TBM service centers. This inventory will be managed by Executive Airlines, which is based at Melbourne-Essendon Airport.
The Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA) has commented on a set of proposed regulations from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) that seek to regulate greenhouse-gas emissions under the Clean Air Act, specifically targeting emissions by general aviation aircraft.
