Maine Atlantic Aviation has opened a new FBO at Knox County Regional Airport in Owls Head, Maine. Also known as Avitat Rockland, the FBO offers amenities such as a pilot snooze lounge, bath, fully equipped kitchen, private workspace, wireless Internet access and a lobby furnished by local artisans.

On February 1, LAWA, which owns and operates Van Nuys, issued a request for proposal for demolition of existing buildings and development of a new facility at 16200 Daily Drive, location of The Jet Center, a former Garrett Aviation Services completions and refurb facility.

Change is coming to the FBO scene at California’s busy Van Nuys Airport, with one pending acquisition and a possible new facility. Local aircraft management company Maguire Aviation is planning to buy the elegant Spanish-hacienda-style Petersen Aviation FBO, pending Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) approval.

Like many others, as a kid I loved going to the airport to watch airplanes. Unlike many other kids, I was lucky enough to live so close that I was able to be there every day. Embraer Aircraft Maintenance Services has opened a new 78,000-sq-ft maintenance facility on Nashville International Airport. According to the company, it opened the facility in response to a rising demand for full-service aircraft maintenance, specifically to meet the requirements of the growing Embraer 170/190 fleet in North America.

Gulfstream G350 and G450 operators now have another option for repair of their Rolls-Royce Tay 611-8Cs. Dallas Airmotive has expanded its repair and overhaul capability to include the engine, an enhancement to the earlier model 611-8 used on the Gulfstream IV and IV-SP. New features include fadec, fewer mechanical parts and technical benefits learned from the Rolls-Royce Trent and Tay 650 airliner engine programs.
