A recently completed 120,000-plus-sq-ft facility is the new home of Jet Source Business Aviation Center at McClellan-Palomar Airport in Carlsbad, Calif.

The new facility will provide a home for Jet Source’s FAA-certified Part 145 maintenance and avionics repair stations as well as an executive terminal. The FBO also provides aircraft charter, management and aircraft sales/acquisition.

For years Corpair Supply of O’Fallon, Mo., has been closely associated with the repair and overhaul of Sabreliners. The company recently announced that it has expanded its capabilities to include Falcons (the 10, 20, 50, 200 and 900) and Hawkers (the 400, 600, 700 and 800).

The Hangar Incorporated (THI) has entered an agreement with Shreveport, La. FBO TAC Air. Under the terms of the agreement, THI will operate the maintenance portion of the FBO services at Shreveport Regional Airport. THI was most recently contracted to be the maintenance provider for Wilson Air Center on Memphis International Airport, in Memphis, Tenn.

Bombardier Aircraft Services (BAS) has received approval from the FAA to eliminate skin contour tests for the ongoing operation of the Learjet 31, 35, 36 and 55 in reduced vertical separation minimums (RVSM) airspace. The approval was based on aerodynamic analysis and the sampling of multiple aircraft that revealed insignificant variances over time in RVSM-critical regions.

BizJet International of Tulsa, Okla., announced a service-center agreement with FirstFlight Management, a wholly owned subsidiary of FBO Air, located at Elmira Corning Regional Airport in New York.

Sharp Details now offers Granitize Aviation International’s new product, Xzilon (pronounced zy-lon), an aircraft exterior high-solids formula corrosion inhibitor, on all of its aircraft cleaning and detailing work. Sharp Details provides full-service aircraft cleaning and support services, including aircraft washing, bright work polishing, waxing, interior cleaning, facility services and full-time, in-house contract employees.

Paris Le Bourget Airport is to open a new terminal building next month. The facility will have room for two FBOs and offices available for rent.

St. Louis-based Trans States Airlines announced last month that it will retire its last six BAe Jetstream 41s by the fall and end its American Connection service to Columbia, Springfield and Joplin, Mo.; and Decatur and Springfield, Ill. American Connection partner RegionsAir has offered to negotiate with the affected communities to fly its 19-seat Jetstream 31s to St. Louis.

US Airways plans to start taking deliveries of Embraer jets again this November under a new agreement to convert its remaining positions on 57 Embraer 170s to 99-seat Embraer 190s, 23 of which remain subject to reconfirmation by the airline. Still subject to bankruptcy court approval, the deal includes options on another 50 airplanes from the Embraer 170/190 line.

ATR senior vice president commercial John Moore has seen his share of ups and downs in this business, but never since he joined the company a decade ago had he experienced a year like last year, when ATR logged firm orders for 90 airplanes and reported a 15-percent increase in revenues, to $542 million. Last year’s haul equaled 1998 sales, and order figures ranked second only to ATR’s all-time record of 107 aircraft in 1989.
