Arinc has received FAA certification to issue aircraft STCs and perform STC-related aircraft service and modification work under the agency’s new organization designation authorization (ODA) program.

Arinc’s aircraft integration and modification group, with operations at Oklahoma City; Colorado Springs, Colo; and Scottsdale, Ariz., is one of the first designated ODA holders in the country.

The FAA has granted an air agency certificate to New Berlin, Wis.-based Emteq. As a certified repair station, the company is authorized to issue Return to Service tags and FAA Forms 8130-3 as well as 337s for Emteq-designed and -manufactured Arinc 404/600 trays, coax cable assemblies, LED dome, reading, wash and strip lighting.

TSS Aviation, based in Cincinnati, and Standard Aero’s Maryville, Tenn. MRO facility have earned AS9100 and AS9110 certification, respectively. These certifications are the first received for the newly combined companies of Standard Aero, Landmark, TSS and Associated Air Center under the DAE Engineering Companies banner.

A new company called Kaz Aviation launched its FBO expansion plan with the purchase for $2.3 million of all the assets of Attractions Jet Center at Kissimmee Gateway Airport in Kissimmee, Fla. “We are looking for undiscovered diamonds,” said Steve Bowlin, vice president of FBO Operations.

Airport property development company SunBorne signed a long-term lease with Arapahoe County Public Airport Authority for another 69 acres adjoining SunBorne’s existing 56-acre leasehold at Centennial Airport in Englewood, Colo. SunBorne’s Centennial InterPort now encompasses 125 acres, and the company is working with prospective clients on projects for the second phase of development.

Users of Flight Explorer’s Professional Aircraft Situation Display can now access Universal Weather & Aviation’s UVTripPlanner global airport data via Flight Explorer. The airport data is located in Flight Explorer’s Airport Summary section and includes information about more than 25,000 airports.

The Airports Council International-North America (ACI-NA) is disappointed in the latest U.S. government budget proposal, which seeks nearly $1 billion in cuts from the FAA Airport Improvement Plan in the Fiscal Year 2009 budget. The proposal for 2009 would reduce airport improvement plan spending by $765 million compared to 2008 but also by $1.1 billion compared to numbers in the FAA reauthorization bill pending in Congress.
