Gulf carrier Qatar Airways yesterday signed an order for five Boeing 777F cargo aircraft and took options on a further five. It also confirmed orders for 22 others previously from unidentified buyers–fourteen 777-300ERs, six -200LRs and two 777F cargo variants.

Airbus yesterday signed an order for an Airbus Corporate Jetliner (ACJ) from C Jet Limited, a Hong Kong company owned by a private individual. The new bizliner will be managed and operated by BAA Jet Management, also of Hong Kong, which has placed orders for an ACJ and an A318 Elite. The C Jet ACJ will be the second such aircraft under BAA Jet’s management.
Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Interior has ordered 40 Sikorsky helicopters in a deal valued at approximately $2 billion, the U.S.-based manufacturer announced here yesterday. The contract breaks down into 16 S-92 heavy twins, 15 S-76D medium twins and nine Schweizer 434 light singles. The contract calls for deliveries to begin in March 2008.

Bombardier has selected Pratt & Whitney’s Geared Turbofan (GTF) engine for its 100- to 149-seat C-Series airliners in a deal the airframer claims “secures the best technology available for the aircraft.”

Arinc (Stand W416) has unveiled a gate check-in system that aims to cut costs for airports and airlines by allowing them to take advantage of so-called “common-use” passenger check-in platforms.
Arinc’s Muse technology lets several airlines share the same gates using common workstations in an arrangement that streamlines and simplifies gate check-in procedures, the company said.
