Dassault is about to receive certification of a “nose-up autobrake” feature to further cut Falcon 2000 series landing distances, chief test pilot Philippe Deleume told AIN here at EBACE 2010. The result is a landing distance approximately 150 feet shorter. The new system will help the aircraft (in its DX, EX and LX versions) meet London City airport requirements.

Global Coverage Closer for Free In-flight TV
Honeywell (Booth No. 7041) has introduced an upgrade to its satellite television system for business jets to allow operators to receive free-to-air satellite TV in China, India and Russia, thus matching the service available on the ground.

FlightSafety International (Booth No. 1643) plans to begin offering Dassault Falcon 7X training at its Dallas/Fort Worth Learning Center, starting in January 2011.
The syllabus will include comprehensive training programs, full-flight simulator time and the Matrix integrated system. It will offer an enhanced flight visual system, head-up guidance, emergency vision assurance and electronic flight bag.

Al Bateen Executive, the Gulf region’s first dedicated private aviation airport, reported a 30-percent increase in aircraft movements in the first quarter of this year, compared to the same period last year. The airport is located minutes from the city center of Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates.

Silentium Air (Booth No. 688) has announced the market introduction of its Silentium Air 300 series, a customized noise-reduction kit developed uniquely for Bombardier’s Challenger 300.
London Biggin Hill Airport (Booth No. 953) has started a new development program. The airport will add a new 54,000-sq-ft parking/ramp area for business aircraft adjacent to the passenger terminal by mid-June; a new double-span hangar for business aircraft by early 2011; and a new hotel in time for the 2012 Olympic Games in London.
The business aviation market appears to be recovering from the economic downturn, propelled by increased sales in Asia and Africa, according to Jahid Fazal-Karim, co-owner of Jetcraft Corporation, and former senior vice president of worldwide sales for Bombardier. However, signs of continued economic instability in parts of Europe could have “a serious effect” on the Western markets.
AgustaWestland (Booth No. 7020) has received FAA and EASA certification for the full ice-protection system (FIPS) on its AW139 medium twin helicopter. With the FIPS option, the aircraft can fly into known icing. Approval from Transport Canada is expected soon and the manufacturer plans to deliver 12 FIPS-equipped AW139s this year.
