During the economic downturn, some FBOs have enjoyed a steady flow of traffic, especially in places like the Bahamas where visitors from all over the world come to enjoy the warm weather and clear water.

Jet Aviation’s new FBO in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, is open and features an innovative passenger flow system so arrivals and departures are conducted in separate channels to speed up throughput. The 106,000-sq-ft building provides more space than its predecessor while still offering direct ramp access. The new ramp enclave includes an area for storing ground equipment and providing line maintenance, and the FBO offers a new washing bay.
Arabian Aircraft Service Co. (Arabasco) opened its new FBO in Jeddah last month. The new 37,675-sq-ft, two-floor FBO is part of the first phase of the redevelopment of Jeddah International Airport and consists of several separate lounges for passengers and a dedicated airside area for crew, allowing them close access both to their aircraft and to support services, including flight planning, crew snooze rooms and a crew lounge.
Twin Falls, Idaho-based Reeder Flying Service has joined the Avfuel dealer network. Reeder is awarding Avtrip points to participating pilots and providing Avfuel contract fuel for jet-A buyers.
Chevron plans to sell its Caribbean fuel marketing and aviation businesses to Vitogaz, a subsidiary of France-based Rubis, by this year’s third quarter. The transaction will include a service station network, equity interest in a refinery operation, terminals and aviation facilities as well as Chevron’s commercial and industrial fuel businesses, according to the company.
Landmark Aviation has added another FBO to its network after purchasing the assets of DB Aviation at Waukegan Regional Airport in Waukegan, Ill. The purchase brings the Landmark chain to 41 FBOs. “DB Aviation will be a great addition to our network, and will expand our presence in the Midwest,” said Landmark president and CEO Dan Bucaro.
Eastern Aviation Fuels/Shell Aviation has added Panorama Flight Service at Westchester County Airport in White Plains, N.Y., to its fuel dealer network.
Enterprise Jet Center evolved from Enterprise Products, a gas and oil company that opened a flight department in 1979. The latter’s original 30,000-sq-ft facility remains among the new company’s holdings on Hobby Airport.
Aviation Fabricators (AvFab) has been granted EASA approval for the installation of its Beechjet 400 two-place divan. The unit is available with the option of close-out panels and comes with a mounted shoulder harnesses. According to the company, there is no airframe modification necessary.
The Bermuda Department of Civil Aviation has granted approval to Boca Aircraft Maintenance to maintain and repair Bermuda-registered aircraft under an AMO Certificate. The Boca Raton aircraft maintenance company specializes in Falcons and is also an authorized Gold Level Eclipse service center.
