Esterline CMC Electronics (Hall 3 Stand D50) and Boeing have signed a contract to offer CMC’s multi-channel SwiftBroadBand compliant CMA-2102SB satcom high-gain antenna system for new Boeing 777s. The 2102SB recently received Inmarsat multi-channel SwiftBroadBand approval and Transport Canada appliance type approval. The device is the only top-mount Arinc 741 antenna to gain such approval.

Rockwell Collins is to provide its Athena 411 flight control and navigation system for the Mist Mobility Integrated Systems Technology CQ-10A Snow Goose unmanned aerial vehicle. Athena 411 is a system that integrates solid-state gyros and accelerometers, magnetometer, GPS receiver and air data sensors into a single, small, strap-down unit.

Atlantic Inertial Systems (AIS) has introduced a new generation of ruggedized solid-state inertial MEMS (micro electromechanical systems). The system improves noise performance and halves the bias of a current inertial measurement unit or single-axis rate sensor. This makes them compatible with long-endurance missions, the company claims.

Eurocopter and Canada’s National Research Council (NRC) signed a 10-year agreement on research and technology cooperation, ranging from manufacturing technologies to flight tests for environmental investigations.

Highland Integrated Surveillance Systems (HISS) of Toronto, Canada, has awarded a contract to Barco to supply MDU-268 avionics-grade mission display units for installation in 30 helicopters for a Middle East customer. The displays will be integrated with EuroAvionics’ RN6 digital map generator to create an advanced mission display system.

In the Israeli Pavilion, avionics specialist Rada Electronic Industries is unveiling a new line of compact avionics systems designed specifically for unmanned aerial vehicle applications. The company has developed a range of interface control processors, engine control and payload management computers, modular avionics and inertial navigation systems, and electrical power management units.

The Eurojet EJ200 that powers the Eurofighter achieved a milestone earlier this month when the first engine to be completed to the full operational clearance standard surpassed 1,000 on-wing hours. Engine number EN1030 was built by Rolls-Royce at Filton and was delivered to the UK Royal Air Force in 2003. It has subsequently flown in two Typhoon aircraft stationed at RAF Coningsby without the need for any unscheduled maintenance.

Sikorsky Aerospace Services has opened a rotary- and fixed-wing avionics center of excellence at its Derco Aerospace facility in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the company announced on Monday. Sikorsky Aerospace Services acts as the aftermarket business of Sikorsky Aircraft Corp.

Dunlop Aircraft Tyres (Hall 2B Stand H110) is displaying the tires it will be supplying for Bombardier’s new CRJ1000 Next Gen regional jet for the first time, after a recent contract award by the Canadian manufacturer. The 100-seat aircraft–45 of which have been ordered by airlines such as Adria Airways, Brit Air and My Air–is set to enter service in late 2009.

Airbus officially became a full member of the SESAR air traffic management modernization program on Friday, when it signed an agreement that marked what it described as the actual start of program. Honeywell also signed up as a program partner on the same day, and is investing approximately $56 million to define concepts, develop technology and demonstrate operational scenarios.
