Sandel Avionics announced that its latest SN3500 electronic horizontal situation indicator (EHSI) has received TSO approval from the FAA, clearing the way for immediate deliveries of the unit to dealers. Designed as a drop-in replacement for a conventional HSI, the $9,950 SN3500 includes a 3-ATI LCD display capable of presenting moving maps, traffic, Stormscope lightning strikes and WSI datalink weather.
Following the successful introduction last year of the three-inch 4300 Lifesaver backup attitude indicator, Mid-Continent Instruments has gone one step better by unveiling an even smaller product, the two-inch 4200 series indicator.

In mid-April, Ibis Aerospace conducted indirect lightning tests on its 10-seat Ae270 turboprop single. According to the company, these tests were under the control of the Czech Civil Aviation Authority inspectors and EMCC of Germany.
By the middle of last month Cessna’s Citation Mustang had made rapid flight-test progress. Since its first flight on April 23, the Citation Mustang has logged more than 36 hours in 19 flights. Testing has already begun onall Citation Mustang systems,including the Garmin G1000integrated avionics system andthe Pratt & Whitney Canada PW615F engines and FADECs.
Sino Swearingen recently conducted cold-soak testing of its SJ30-2 at a facility at Eglin AFB, Fla., completing another requirement for FAA certification. The aircraft was soaked at -40 degrees C and then tested for avionics performance; pre-start, engine start and operation; landing gear retraction and extension; hydraulic system operations; and functions of other systems and controls.
