An Eclipse spokesman told AIN that "very few, if any" Eclipse 500 buyers asked to have their deposits refunded after learning of a price increase for the very light twinjet on May 11. In a letter to existing customers Eclipse president and CEO Vern Raburn wrote, "Unfortunately, we have now determined that it will cost us more to produce the Eclipse 500 than we anticipated in January 2003.

Lingering technical issues are forcing Garmin to delay plans for upgraded WAAS capability in the company's GNS 430/530 and GPS 400/500 panel-mount avionics, according to a spokesman. Explaining that the upgrades will require "a major software rewrite" in addition to minor hardware changes, the spokesman indicated that the capability is now not expected to be available before next year's third quarter.
An FAA investigation of the New York Terminal Radar Approach Control (Tracon) determined that it is "more than adequately staffed for safe operations and that local union-controlled scheduling practices are inefficient and wasteful, creating overtime costs that are more than double any other air ATC facility in the country." The need for overtime was compounded, the report said, "by absences due to widespread abuse of sick leave and workers
The FAA, NASA and NCAM (National Consortium for Aviation Mobility) hosted SATS 2005 Sunday through today and drew a larger than anticipated crowd of visitors, including the Administrators of both the FAA and NASA.
Both sides claim a measure of victory in last Friday's U.S. Court of Appeals ruling, but the Naples (Fla.) Airport Authority is crowing louder. The court decision upheld a ban on Stage 2 jets at Naples Municipal Airport–a ban disputed by the FAA and a host of aviation advocacy groups, including the NBAA.
