The National Business Aviation Association unveiled its new Light Business Airplane (LBA) Flight Operations Manual Template in Las Vegas during the NBAA/Cessna Single-Pilot Safety Standdown.

The Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) has certified Piaggio Aero’s P.180 Avanti and Avanti II, the Italy-based airframer announced at NBAA 2011 in Las Vegas. The type certification confirms that the aircraft comply with Chinese regulations and can now be registered and operated in the People’s Republic of China and Hong Kong.

Elbit Systems of America’s Kollsman Commercial Aviation announced at NBAA 2011 in Las Vegas that flight testing of its second-generation, enhanced-vision system, EVS II, is in progress on a Boeing 777 and that certification flight test of a new Kollsman head-up display (HUD) for the Bombardier Challenger 604 is about to commence.

Hawker Beechcraft has received Brazilian certification for its Hawker 4000 business jet, the Wichita, Kan.-based company announced at NBAA 2011 in Las Vegas.

Winglet Technology of Wichita, Kan., introduced an elliptical winglet design specifically for the Hawker 200 and Premier I/IA light jets, and will offer the winglet for retrofit on existing Premier I/IA jets beginning in the first quarter of 2013, the company announced at NBAA 2011 in Las Vegas.

Since it acquired 14 simulators from FlightSafety International on August 17, SimCom Flight Centers has been busy relocating, refurbishing and returning these devices to service at its Dallas and Orlando training centers. Once all of these newly obtained sims are up and running, SimCom will have 59 simulators in total at its four training center locations.

Traffic is growing at the UK’s Cambridge Airport following a rebranding and change of management at the start of 2011. The privately owned facility has come to the NBAA show (Booth No. N1622) to encourage more North American operators to try out the convenient access it gives to large parts of southern and eastern England.

Avinode iPhone and iPad apps

Online charter portal Avinode (Booth No. C7818) is introducing a new suite of mobile applications for iPhones and iPads to put real-time aircraft availability data in the palm of the user’s hand. The Sweden-based group developed the apps so that charter operators and brokers can make them available to their clients, sparing them the chore of doing the complex development work themselves.
