Bell/Agusta Aerospace Co. is showing a new six-place VIP interior in its BA609 tiltrotor mockup here in the Orange County Convention Center (Booth No. 5519). Featuring leather seats, two beverage consoles, a flat floor and foldaway tables, the tasteful interior brings “the comfort of a corporate jet to an aircraft that can go places where others cannot,” said Don Barbour, Bell/Agusta executive marketing director.

Marking one of the few large orders announced at NBAA’08, Brazil-based Lider Signatures, a Hawker Beechcraft dealer and authorized service center since 1996, has placed an order with the Wichita OEM for 23 aircraft worth approximately $200 million. Lider CEO Eduardo de Pereira Vaz signed and sealed the contract here yesterday with Brad Hatt, president of commercial sales for Hawker Beech.

Negotiations in Europe between Grob Aerospace and an undisclosed prospective new investor have continued into a third day. Last week, Grob CEO Niall Olver canceled the company’s exhibit here in Orlando so that top management could focus on reaching agreement with a company that has emerged from a short-list of three as Grob’s favored bidder.

The business jet market is headed for a 15-percent downturn following a peak in deliveries in 2010, according to J.P. Morgan industry analysts. However, the downturn will be shallower than the previous slowdown in 2001 and 2002, which resulted in a 31-percent decline.

GE Honda Aero Engines said it is releasing hardware designs and receiving manufactured hardware for its first HF120 development engine, in preparation for formal certification testing. To date, the company has built and tested 10 HF120 engine cores and 10 full engine demonstrators.

“This is a look-alike, not a replica,” said engineer Walt Hoy at the unveiling of the Wright Brothers’ “Silver Bird” Tuesday at Booth No. 3104. “You need to step back a hundred yards to make it look ‘Wright,’” he said, since its design was driven by practical needs for portability and durability.

A consortium of business, government and educational organizations in the greater Wichita area has formed a Wichita Aero Club. The group plans to host monthly luncheons and invite high-profile speakers to address major aviation industry issues.

ExecuJet Aviation Group, Gama Aviation and Jet Alliance International were among the companies inducted Sunday into the National Aircraft Resale Association (NARA) at the organization’s annual membership meeting. Other new members included Boutsen Aviation, Symbolic Aviation and Tandava Aviation. Hawker Beechcraft Services; Hinckley, Allen & Snyder; Hope Aviation Insurance; and Ober Kaler, Attorneys at Law, joined as associate members.

ExecuJet Aviation has opened a new office in Ohio for its U.S. pre-owned sales division. Sharon Evans has been appointed as its first U.S. sales director, responsible for increasing the number of aircraft that ExecuJet has under exclusive mandate for its worldwide sales network.
