Bell Breaks Ground on New HQ

Bell Helicopter broke ground October 15 on its new Fort Worth, Tex. headquarters building.

Bell’s new, energy-efficient 210,000-sq-ft headquarters will house administration, support functions, program offices, a customer center and an integrated training facility. The Bell Helicopter training facility, currently located at Fort Worth Alliance Airport, will be moved to the new global headquarters.

King Expands Interiors Shop

King began construction in October on the 25,000-sq-ft shop.

Aircraft services provider King Aerospace (Booth No. 2879) has announced expansions at its Ardmore, Okla. facility to serve the customization, modification, refurbishment and completion of executive aircraft.

King began construction in October on the 25,000-sq-ft shop to accommodate cabinetry, upholstery and panel covering activities. The building will also house automated machinery for cutting leathers, fabrics and cabinetry materials. It is the first of four similarly sized buildings planned at the seven-acre site at Ardmore Airport. When finished, it will total 100,000 sq ft.
Liebherr Delivers First Learjet 85 Flap Actuation System

Liebherr Aerospace (Booth No. 1316) has delivered its first flap actuation system for the new Bombardier Learjet 85. Liebherr also is designing, manufacturing, and qualifying the air management system on the aircraft. The company currently supplies a variety of components for Bombardier jets including landing gear. Liebherr Aerospace and Transportation Systems employs more than 4,000 and has aviation equipment production plants in Germany, France, Brazil and Russia as well as customer centers in the U.S., Canada, Brazil, Germany, Russia, Dubai, Singapore and China.

Proof can be found at the Satcom1 exhibit (Booth No. 1891) where Aviation Modifications Leader (AML) is showing its portable OOM-100 and OOM-200 routers, which promise to increase Internet speeds by 200 to 300 percent.
Diamond CEO joins Park Electro Board

Diamond Aircraft CEO Peter Maurer has joined the board of directors of Park Electrochemical (Booth No. 5533). Maurer has been Diamond’s chief executive since 2000, and Diamond’s aircraft line features all-composite construction. Park Electrochemical manufactures digital technology including RF/microwave printed circuit materials for telecommunications and computers as well as advanced composite materials, parts, and assemblies for the aerospace industry. Park has facilities in Singapore, France, Kansas, Arizona, and California.

Success for Quest Kodiak in China

Quest Aircraft has signed a deal with Blue Eagle Aviation of Beijing, China for the delivery of 12 Kodiak single-engine turboprops between now and 2015 with options for additional aircraft. Blue Eagle was named a Kodiak dealer in July and the aircraft is currently completing Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) certification, expected by year-end.

Changes are coming for Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (Booth No. 1185). School president John Johnson and worldwide campus chancellor John Watret have established an Embry-Riddle Worldwide College of Business, which will effectively replace the current Worldwide Department of Business Administration for the university. This more formally structured college will serve more than 4,000 undergraduate and 2,500 graduate students who are participating in eight degree programs.
