Research firm Frost & Sullivan today said that the Middle East is one of the few world regions where the business jet market has registered growth, adding that the air-taxi segment is expected to be a major driver for this market. According to the company’s data, the Middle East logged 93,000 business jet movements last year, and that number is projected to grow to 103,000 this year.

The Changhe subsidiary of China’s Aviation Industry Corp. (AVIC) completed its first Sikorsky S-76C++ airframe yesterday at its plant near Shanghai. It will now be shipped to Sikorsky’s Coatesville, Pa. facility for completion. Changhe will manufacture additional S-76 airframes in 2010.

The General Aviation Manufacturers Association (GAMA) and the International Business Aviation Council (IBAC), along with IBAC’s member associations, today announced they are teaming on an “aggressive strategy” to further mitigate the industry’s greenhouse gas emissions. “Business aviation has established an excellent record of consistently improving fuel efficiency, delivering 40-percent improvement over the past 40 years,” the groups said.
