After eight months of renovations of its FBO facility, Million Air Fayetteville, Ark., held a grand reopening on August 11. The Fayetteville Municipal Drake Field FBO now features a theater room, snooze room, catering refrigerator and new furniture in the passenger lobby, as well as a beverage bar and 72-inch flat-screen tv.

JetDirect Aviation purchased Regal Aviation, an FBO, maintenance, sales and charter/management company based at Dallas Love Field. JetDirect now owns three FBOs in the U.S. and three FAA repair stations and operates 64 charter aircraft.
Kansas City Aviation Center (KCAC) opened the first of what will be several new FBO and service facilities in its nine-state Pilatus PC-12 sales territory, this one a full-service FBO at Spirit of St. Louis Airport in St. Louis. KCAC purchased the FBO from Thunder Aviation and renamed it Midwest Aviation Center.
Landmark Aviation added a new $2 million hangar and office complex at its Raleigh-Durham International Airport FBO. With 13,500 sq ft of hangar space and 4,800 sq ft of office space, the expansion makes more room for based tenants at Landmark Raleigh. In addition to 24-hour FBO services, the Raleigh facility hosts Landmark charter and aircraft sales operations.
Business aviation is growing in Africa, according to Ettore Poggi, managing director of ExecuJet South Africa. To highlight its FBO, charter/management, sales and maintenance capabilities, the company participated in the Africa Aerospace & Defence Airshow in Cape Town from September 20 to 24. “Over the last few years we have seen a significant growth in the interest shown in business aviation by the private sector,” Poggi said.
Houston Ellington Field, home to NASA’s C-9 “Vomit Comet” microgravity research airplane, is expanding to attract more general aviation activity by making previously inaccessible property available for development and building a new taxiway to accommodate more business jet operators.
The newest FBO building at Dallas Love Field Airport is six years old but looks younger. Located on the northeast corner of the airport close to the intersection of Runways 13 and 18L, Business Jet Center is a Texas-size facility, with a three-story FBO terminal on a 24-acre property that includes 178,000 sq ft of hangar, FBO and office space.
Aircraft management firm The Air Group launched a discount fuel program and a co-branded Visa card available free to its management clients and for a fee to corporate aircraft operators. The Air Group purchases bulk fuel and passes on savings in its new SmartFuel Program. For handling and ramp fees, The Air Group passes on costs without markups.
Airport information provider AirNav is launching AirBoss, a new fuel card membership service that is open to pilots and FBOs. For pilots, annual membership costs $39 (100 octane) or $79 (100-octane and jet-A) and provides discounted fuel at AirBoss FBOs. FBOs don’t pay a fee to join AirBoss but must advertise on AirNav’s online airport database.
Kenneth Allison has added another FBO, the former Lafayette Regional Airport in Louisiana, to his group of Million Air-branded facilities, bringing the total to seven FBOs. Million Air Lafayette moved into modular offices in the middle of last month and planned to demolish the old terminal building shortly thereafter to make way for a new 15,000-sq-ft terminal.
