The new Aero Centex FBO officially opened on August 31 at Georgetown Municipal Airport north of Austin, Texas. Aero Centex features 25,000 sq ft of hangar and terminal space, as well as 70,000 sq ft of ramp space. The hangar complex includes a community hangar and private hangars available for short- or long-term lease.
The eye-popping total of 2,750 pre-owned aircraft for sale today is a lot based on historical standards, but it is well below the peak reached a little more than a year ago. During the past few years, FBOs and airports with international arrivals have been developing processes to handle what’s known as “regulated garbage.” U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Regulation 7 CFR 330.400 requires owners and operators of aircraft flying into the U.S. from other countries (except Canada) to dispose of regulated garbage in a way that protects against the introduction of foreign bacteria to the U.S.
Rolls-Royce in late August filed a complaint alleging infringement by United Technologies (UTC) of the patent for the Rolls-Royce swept fan blade–the same design, claims Rolls, that UTC subsidiary Pratt & Whitney used in its PW1000G PurePower geared turbofan for the Bombardier C Series and Mitsubishi MRJ.
