The Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) AH-64D Apache Longbow multirole combat helicopter prominently displayed at the entrance to Hall A is one of six that participated in the big do-it-yourself exercise in the U.S. last November. It is the first of three that have been reassigned from the RSAF training base in Arizona to No. 120 Squadron, marking the first-ever deployment of international Apaches in Asia.

Significant local progress in network-centric military operations was reported here Monday at the C4I Asia conference by Singapore defense officials. They described recent Singapore armed forces (SAF) exercises and gave pointers about future development in what they call IKC2 (integrated knowledge-based command and control).

Bombardier yesterday announced the first delivery into North Asia of a new Challenger 300 super midsize business jet to Corporate Jets, Inc. The aircraft is slated primarily for regional travel and occasional flights to North America. It joins a Global Express at the company’s Asian base in Taiwan and both are available for charter through the Canadian airframer’s Skyjet International block charter program.

PowerJet, the joint venture formed by Russia’s NPO Saturn and France’s Snecma to build the SaM146 turbofan for the Russian Regional Jet (RRJ), will run the first engine to test (FETT) in April this year and gain certification for the new powerplant in March 2008.
