Singapore Technologies Aerospace and the Panamanian government yesterday signed a memorandum of understanding to establish an airframe, heavy maintenance, repair and overhaul facility at the former Howard Air Force Base just west of the Panama Canal. Under the proposal, ST Aerospace would take over four existing hangars, each able to accommodate three narrowbody airplanes. It expects to commission the facility for operations early next year. If all goes as planned, the venture will create 1,000 jobs.

Separately, ST Aerospace opened a new $25 million hangar yesterday at the ST Aviation Services Company’s Changi facility for widebody MRO services.
