Ultra Electronics To Quiet A400M Transport ᲀ

Ultra Electronics Controls (Stand A544) has been selected by Airbus to supply active noise and vibration control on the A400M military transport aircraft. The contract is valued at approximately $60 million, the UK-based company said here.
Ultra’s tuned vibration absorber system (TVAS) is based on active vibration controllers attached to the fuselage, which provide a local reduction of the vibration. A central electronic controller coordinates the operation of all the devices to reduce the noise from the four massive propellers. Some 800 turboprop aircraft are already flying with Ultra technology.
