Delta Private Jets has opened a new 40,000-sq-ft comprehensive maintenance, repair and overhaul facility at its headquarters at Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport.
Boca Raton, Fla.-based VAS Aero Services has named Tommy Hughes as chief commercial officer. Hughes, formerly senior vice president for sales and marketing for the company, is responsible for global assets and repair services, in addition to worldwide sales. During a 20-plus-year career in engine MRO services and sales, and before VAS, Hughes worked with Delta Air Lines tech ops, where he led engine maintenance and test cell operations for that airline and its third-party customers.
Applied Composites Engineering (ACE) is offering a two-year transferable warranty on all overhauled or repaired radomes for airliners and business jets. The two-year Platinum warranty will be included as part of a fully overhauled radome repair. The two-year Gold warranty will be included as part of a damage-specific radome repair. Both levels will transfer to the new owner in the event of an aircraft sale during the warranty period, and both include one transmissivity test during the warranty period at no cost.
CHC Helicopters division Heli-One (Booth No. 1804), a global provider of repair and overhaul services for helicopters, now offers overhauled aircraft components and spare parts to other helicopter operators via new customer portals on its website (www.heli-one.com).
Swiss MRO and FBO specialist Air Service Basel has received its maintenance approval certificate from the Civil Aviation Authority of the Cayman Islands. Air Service Basel is also a Beechcraft authorized service center for King Airs. CEO Claudio Lasagni said the CAACI approval complements existing EASA Part 145 and FAA repair station approvals held by Air Service Basel. “By adding this approval, we meet the increasing demand of our customers for flexible line and base maintenance services,” he said.

Honda Aircraft has received FAA Part 145 certification for its customer service facility. The customer service facility, located at the company’s world headquarters at Piedmont Triad International Airport in Greensboro, N.C, opened in October.
GA Telesis Composite Repair Group has appointed David LeClair as vice president of Service Sales. LeClair has more than 20 years of management experience in the aviation aftermarket distribution and commercial MRO marketplace. In his new capacity, LeClair will be responsible for further developing nacelle repair strategies. “David will enhance and lead our efforts to build upon our established customer partnership programs through his expert depth and program knowledge essential to the MRO business,” said Russell Bonnell, president MRO Business Units Americas.
AFI KLM E&M has been awarded CCAR 145 approval by the Civil Aviation Administration of China for its Shanghai components maintenance shop. After a final audit carried out last month, during which the Chinese authorities inspected management systems, processes, technical manuals and technician qualifications, the workshop was granted approval as a maintenance organization on Chinese soil.
RBR Maintenance has been in operation at Dallas Love Field since 1991, when founder Joe Burch leased space at the airport and offered maintenance on Gulfstreams and Hawkers. In the last 20-odd years the business has grown significantly from the original one-man shop and added aircraft to its capabilities.
Burch started out as a car mechanic and in the late 1970s took up flying as a hobby, got his pilot certificate and bought an airplane. Over the next several years he worked up to a multi-engine airline transport pilot certificate and started adding turbine ratings.
