The French will buy 14 A330MRTTs to pool in a common fleet

The French Air Force will sign a contract for between five and seven A330 Multi-Role Tanker Transports in 2013, with quick deliveries foreseen, according to its commander General Jean-Paul Palomeros. Budget difficulties thwarted earlier French attempts to procure a new tanker.

Piaggio Aero Industries delivered the 100th Avanti in the U.S., the manufacturer announced on Tuesday. The centennial aircraft, S/N 1216, was delivered to Clearwater, Fla.-based fractional provider Avantair, which operates the world’s largest fleet of Avantis. With this recent delivery, Avantair now operates 57 Avantis.

Germanwings and Lufthansa Technik have signed a contract for technical services to support the airline’s fleet of 30 Airbus A319s. The contract includes a Lufthansa Technik fleet manager based at the airline’s headquarters in Cologne, Germany, who will act as the single point of contact for all operational issues.

HyperMach said it is increasing the top speed of its planned supersonic business

HyperMach Aerospace’s planned 20-seat supersonic business jet (SSBJ), dubbed the SonicStar, will be able to fly at Mach 4.0, the company said Friday in Dubai. This is faster than the Mach 3.6 top speed announced when the proposed V-tailed aircraft was first revealed in June at the Paris Air Show. At Mach 4, the SonicStar would be able to fly from New York to Dubai in just 2 hours 20 minutes.

The Obama Administration has notified NBAA that it will continue to have a seat on the Transportation Security Administration’s Aviation Security Advisory Committee (Asac), along with 24 other industry stakeholder groups.
