SkyAngels, a flight attendant staffing provider, was born when Steffany Kisling began her career as a corporate flight attendant. She soon realized that while a trained flight attendant was needed and required, the client expectations were for something more. “I recognized that the job is not about the flight attendant, but the client,” she explained. “The longer I flew, the more I began to realize that the services I was providing, from child care to hotel reservations to serving as a fourth at bridge, were appreciated. And more and more clients were asking for me by name.
R2 Aerospace, a new company established by Rick Richardson, the former Yankee Pacific Aerospace (YPA) vice president of business development and founding shareholder, will pursue new opportunities in aircraft industry manufacturing and the maintenance, repair and overhaul sector in Tulsa, Okla. Richardson has extensive experience across all aspects of large aircraft interior completions.
King Aerospace Commercial Corporation (KACC) is expanding its Ardmore, Okla. facility to serve the customization, modification, refurbishment and completion of corporate and large executive aircraft. KACC began construction this month on a 25,000-sq-ft shop to accommodate executive aircraft cabinetry, upholstery and panel coverings.
Keith Weaver, executive vice president, told AIN, “We anticipate the facility will be completed and we’ll have moved in by about May next year. We’re looking forward to serving this customer base.”
Associated Air Center, StandardAero’s large executive aircraft completions center in Dallas, has partnered with Boeing to validate a Service Bulletin for Boeing Business Jet operators on noise suppression in the cockpit. AAC is the first to install the noise-suppression system in the BBJ in accordance with the Boeing-issued Service Bulletin. AAC’s successful validation makes this upgrade available now to other BBJ operators.
The recently formed African Business Aviation Association (AfBAA, Booth No. 2516) announced at NBAA’12 the launch of new membership categories and a leadership group. “Our vision is to make sure business aviation is recognized as an asset to Africa,” said Tarek Ragheb, founder and chairman of AfBAA.

He has 20 years’ experience direct aircraft maintenance, aviation sales and MRO business development. He holds an A&P with inspection authorization and a B.S. in professional aeronautics from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.
Start Pac is introducing its newest ground power unit (GPU) at this year’s NBAA convention (Booth No. 5074). The new diesel-powered Ranger, which uses lithium-ion batteries, is a more economical alternative to the company’s Hi-Brd 2.
Latitude Technologies announced that its Flight Data Monitoring (FDM) system is now available on a subscription basis, which gives fleet operators the opportunity to reduce upfront capital costs dramatically. Latitude Technologies President Mark Insley explained the reason for the move away from the purchase-only option. “We want to make it simple for operators to get FDM embedded in their fleet operations so they see how the data captured by the IONode can help improve flight safety and operating efficiencies.”
FlightSafety International has released an eLearning version of its cold-weather operations course that runs on an iPad and on a standard Windows PC. The course covers both ground and in-flight icing, de-icing and anti-icing, including the latest 2012/2013 holdover timetables. The FlightSafety learning management system within the course tracks students’ progress and allows them to begin work on a PC and resume studying later from the same place in the program on an Apple iOS device.
Universal Weather and Aviation’s new Safety Management & Integration (SM&I) program makes it easier for clients to manage a safety management system (SMS). The SM&I program is designed for any size of part 91 or 135 operator and includes a software component called SMS Manager. Demonstrations of SM&I are available at the Universal Weather and Aviation booth (No. 2516).
