Markus Bucher, previously COO of Pilatus Aircraft, has been named CEO and chairman of the Swiss airframer’s executive board, effective January 1. He succeeds Oscar Schwenk, who will remain chairman of the board of directors.

Fractional aircraft provider Flexjet has named Deanna White as president. Previously she was Bombardier subsidiary’s v-p of finance and administration.

Statistics released last month by the General Aviation Manufacturers Association (GAMA) reveal that business aircraft deliveries did not show much evidence of resurgence during the third quarter. While the industry overall recorded a 4.2-percent increase, the business jet landscape remained virtually flat, with the OEMs reporting deliveries of 428 private jets through the first nine months of the year, just one more than they did during the same period last year. In the third quarter, airframers handed over 134 jets, a decrease from the 171 delivered in the second quarter of the year.

While overall inventories of pre-owned business aircraft continue to contract, and transaction activity continues to increase year-over-year, the rate of improvement slowed in the third quarter, according to business aviation data company Amstat. The Tinton Falls, N.J.-based firm said the long-hoped-for “broad-based business aircraft resale market recovery still remains elusive.”

Airshow China last month provided yet more evidence of how eager the business aviation industry is to tap the enormous potential growth in China. Every major business aircraft maker made the trip to Zhuhai in the prosperous southern province of Guangdong, and their products formed one of the more prominent clusters among the 80 or so aircraft on display.

Five years after the collapse of the Helicopter Association of Australia (HAA), the Australian helicopter industry is working on creating a new lobbying association. The current objective is to launch the Australian Helicopter Industry Association (AHIA) at the Avalon Air Show 2013, which will open on February 26. The helicopter industry Down Under is now growing at an annual rate of 11.4 percent.

The Sikorsky S-76D medium-twin helicopter achieved FAA type certification on October 12. Deliveries are now planned to begin later this quarter, as the backlog is “approaching half a billion dollars.” The manufacturer is now working on EASA certification.

In its bid to expand MRO operations across the U.S., Constant Aviation recently opened a facility at Las Vegas McCarran International Airport.

“We are excited about our growth out west. Opening a Constant Aviation facility in Las Vegas was the next logical thing for us to do as we invest heavily in the growth and expansion of our facilities, capabilities and personnel,” Stephen Maiden, president of the Cleveland, Ohio-based MRO, told AIN.
