Engineers from Embraer Executive Jets flight operations support team will soon be offering a 2013 version of their two-day flight operations engineering course (FOEC). This is designed to teach pilots of all the company’s business jets the engineering fundamentals behind aircraft performance numbers such as V1, V2, Vr, Vref and so on, used in daily flight operations.
Charter operator Gama Aviation says young children will no longer need to sit on their parents’ laps while traveling aboard any of Gama’s Bombardier Challenger fleet thanks to the company’s new infant safety seats. The UK-based business aviation services group made the seats and claims they are the first child seats certified for taxi, takeoff and landing on numerous business jets. The seats are already in use aboard Virgin Atlantic and Cathay Pacific flights.
Gulfstream handed over the first fully outfitted G650 today to an undisclosed U.S. customer, fulfilling its promise that it would begin deliveries of the clean-sheet ultra-long-range twinjet by the end of the year.
“We’re thrilled to see the first G650 leave our hangar for a customer’s hangar,” said company president Larry Flynn. “Soon the G650 will be a common sight at airports around the world.”
The business jet market in 2013 isn’t going to be a lot better than in the previous four years, according to the December Aerospace and Defense Business Jet Monthly report from J.P.Morgan. The financial services company describes the business jet cycle as “still stuck in neutral.”
Charter brokering group Air Partner is predicting further “slow but steady recovery” during 2013. However, in a forecast issued yesterday, the UK-based company also said that it expects to see more business failures in the charter market and what it says will be further contraction in fractional ownership.
JP Morgan is stirring the Hawker Beechcraft bankruptcy pot, suggesting in its December Aerospace and Defense: Balance of Power report that “acquisition of the company is still possible.” The financial services company named Embraer, Textron (parent of Cessna and Bell Helicopter) and General Dynamics (Gulfstream and Jet Aviation) as entities that might benefit from such a deal.
The analyst added, “We anticipate that other companies may be interested in acquiring Beechcraft if the price is right as we see a good strategic fit in several cases.”
Qatar Airways’ private jet division, Qatar Executive, has received European Air Safety Agency Part 145 approval to provide maintenance and repair services for Bombardier business jets from its hub in Doha. Qatar Executive is already certified by Qatar’s Civil Aviation Authority for similar work.
Hawker Beechcraft Corp. (HBC) took another step toward emerging from Chapter 11 bankruptcy on Tuesday when it received authorization from the bankruptcy court to sell its remaining inventory of Hawker 4000s.

Previously he has worked with Gulfstream Aerospace, Pentastar Aviation and Comlux servicing Learjets, Hawkers, Gulfstreams, Challengers, Falcons and Beechjets. “Randy has the background to provide our customers with a blend of knowledge and experience that will benefit operators in his region,” said Jack Caloras, CRS vice president of sales and business development.
