Comlux has won a contract to conduct major maintenance and refurbishment work on a Boeing Business Jet “bizliner” based in Asia. The airliner-size business aircraft, operated on behalf of its private owner by Hong Kong-based management company Sino Jet, is due to arrive at the Comlux America completions center in Indianapolis during the second quarter of 2014 and will spend four months there.
Shanghai Hawker Pacific Business Aviation Service Centre received Civil Aviation Administration of China and FAA approval for maintenance of Hawker 800-series business jets, the company announced today at ABACE 2014. It also has been designated an authorized service facility for Cessna Citations by the newly formed Textron Aviation, which also owns Hawker and Beechcraft.
Deer Jet, which owns four of the six FBOs currently in operation on the Chinese mainland, expects to at least double that number by the end of this year, according to Peng Zhang, company vice president.
“We are talking with several different airport authorities [who] want to cooperate with Deer Jet (Booth P424) to have an FBO facility on their field,” Zhang told AIN. This includes Beijing Capital Airport, where the company is awaiting permission to begin operations from a facility that was last used for the 2008 Olympics and would be the second FBO on the airport.
Global Jet’s fleet in China has grown with the addition of three more jets this year, and the company’s Asia-based fleet now numbers five aircraft. The Geneva-headquartered private jet company’s worldwide fleet of privately operated and charter aircraft has now reached 67.

JetNet, the U.S. aircraft fleet analysis company, is here at ABACE (Booth P519) demonstrating the updated version of its Evolution Marketplace product. The update includes a new data export module and new folder management feature, as well as new user analytic functions (so users can gauge how often their aircraft are being viewed) and account administrator tools.
As the number of business jets in the Asia Pacific region continues to grow steadily, so does the need for regular maintenance. As the market matures, operators are seeing the value of guaranteed maintenance plans such as those provided by Jet Support Systems Inc. (JSSI) in North America.
The People’s Republic of China government has done much to make China more “executive aviation friendly,” according to Embraer Executive Jets. But obstacles remain to business aviation growth, said the Brazilian manufacturer.
Korea Airport Corp. (KAC) recently announced a deal with Avjet to build and manage an FBO at Seoul’s Gimpo Airport, close to the city center, with the aim of making it the country’s main business aviation hub. The main airport, Incheon, is some 30 miles from the city center.
Some 200 companies will be exhibiting at the three-day Asian Business Aviation Conference & Exhibition (ABACE), which starts next Tuesday at Shanghai Hongqiao Airport. Organized by NBAA in partnership with the Shanghai Airport Authority, the event will be located once more at the Shanghai Hawker Pacific Business Aviation Service Centre–a joint venture between the Shanghai Airport Authority and Hawker Pacific–with the Asian Business Aviation Association (AsBAA) co-hosting the event.
