SimCom Training Centers (Booth No. N4907) announced at NBAA 2013 that it is using the Cygnus tool from Redbird Flight Simulations to link any aviation or navigation app running on an iPad, iPhone or iPod touch to a simulator. The “location” of the aircraft being flown in the simulator is passed to the portable device as if it were in an actual aircraft.

“We believe pilots should train the way they fly,” said Eric Hanson, president of Orlando, Fla.-based SimCom. “Cygnus allows SimCom customers to use GPS-enabled tablets in the same way they do in their aircraft.”

New annunciator lights for the C90 by Luma Technologies LLC

Luma Technologies (Booth No. C11947) has revealed a new LT-4545 LED annunciator panel for the Beechcraft King Air C90, the latest addition to its Lumatech line of LED annunciator panels for the King Air family.

The LT-4545, a drop-in replacement for the existing incandescent annunciators incorporated in the C90 glareshield, will be compatible with newer model C90A, C90GT, C90GTI and C90GTx models.

Today at NBAA 2013, aircraft remanufacturer Nextant Aerospace revealed its next project–a King Air C90 outfitted with GE H80 turboprop engines, Garmin G1000 glass cockpit, zero-timed components, winglets, strakes and new paint and interior. Initial deliveries of the G90XT, a $2 million to $3 million like-new turboprop twin with single-lever power controls, will start later next year.

Smyrna Air Center, of Rutherford County Airport in Smyrna, Tenn., has delivered the world’s first King Air C90 powered by General Electric’s new H80 800-shp engines. The 1974 King Air C90 (LJ-627) was fitted with two new engines, two new Avia V510 five-blade quiet propellers, dual Garmin G600 MFD/PFD/AHRS, ADS-B compliant Garmin GTX-330ES mode-S transponder, Garmin GWX-70 color radar, Garmin 530W GPS and a GDL-69 satellite weather downlink.
