Caribbean aviation services provider IAM Jet Centre has opened its newest FBO, at Grenada’s Maurice Bishop International Airport. The 4,200-sq-ft facility will be the company’s third, joining locations in Barbados and Montego Bay, Jamaica. It features in-house customs and immigration facilities, conference rooms and security screening, as well as passenger and crew lounges. According to IAM group managing director Paul Worrell, the facility will connect private aviation passengers with luxury super-yachts that frequent the Grenadines.
Trinidad’s National Helicopter Service Limited (NHSL) celebrated the delivery of its first Sikorsky S-76D on January 31. The new helicopter, which is leased from Milestone Aviation, will be based at the company’s facility at Camden Airfield in Couva, Trinidad and Tobago, and will be devoted primarily to the use of multinational oil and gas producer Repsol. NHSL, formerly the air division (helicopter unit) of the Ministry of National Security, is a joint venture between the Government of Trinidad and Tobago and The National Gas Company of Trinidad and Tobago.
At the end of last month, Trinidad’s National Helicopter Service Limited (NHSL) celebrated the delivery of its first Sikorsky S-76D. According to Joshey Mabahir, the company’s general manager, the helicopter was among of the first to be delivered by the Stratford, Conn.-based airframer (Booth No. 2822) and possibly the first of the type to enter revenue service.
Angola’s booming economy, which saw 10-percent growth in gross domestic product last year driven largely by new oil discoveries and reconstruction after the southwest African country’s long civil war, is driving a rapid expansion in business aviation activity. In response, local handling and aircraft management group Bestfly has opened the country’s first real FBO at Luanda International Airport. It is building a 21,500-sq-ft hangar that it expects will be ready in July.
IAM Jet Centre, a new FBO in Barbados, held official grand-opening ceremonies late last month. Completed in December, the 6,000-sq-ft facility offers on-site customs clearance, conference rooms, showers, crew and passenger lounges, Internet access and state-of-the-art security screening.
