Delta Air Lines plans to establish a new pilot hiring protocol at wholly owned Minneapolis-based regional subsidiary Endeavor Air that effectively matches the standards at the mainline and guarantees every new Endeavor pilot a future hiring “commitment” at Delta without the need to go through another interview process, the airlines announced Monday.
Despite the mild winter that befell most of North America this past year, one might be excused for believing one of the few areas not to experience a severe decline in de-icing demand to be Vancouver, British Columbia. After all, the Whistler-Blackcomb ski resort (host to the 2010 Winter Olympics) just 70 miles away received 45 feet of snow this past season. Yet at Vancouver’s Boundary Bay Airport (CZBB), unseasonable weather prevailed. “In terms of winters, it’s been a wet one, but it hasn’t been a cold one,” said Lyle Soetaert, the manager of the airport’s FBO, Boundary Bay Air Services.
In an effort to distinguish itself from Alpha Aviation, its airport operator parent company, the FBO at Boundary Bay Airport has changed its name to Boundary Bay Air Services. The Air BP-branded facility offers 6,000 sq ft of hangar, with another 20,000 sq ft under construction and expected to be completed this summer. The 3,500-sq-ft executive terminal offers VIP and pilot lounges, on-site customs clearance, a conference room, crew shower facilities, flight planning, courtesy car and concierge service.
