Air Services of Cleveland, Ohio, has concluded a general terms agreement with Liebherr-Aerospace for support of the landing gear on the Embraer E170/175/190/195 series and the nose landing gear on the ERJ-145. “This agreement allows us to acquire and maintain updated technical documentation on the E-Jets… The agreement with Liebherr will leverage our current landing-gear and engineering services into larger airframes.
The Middle East and northern Africa have become fertile areas for marketers at Brazil’s Embraer, now the undisputed leader in terms of fleet presence in the region among the world’s regional airliner manufacturers. Of course, the nearly decade-long effort to gain a foothold in a region long considered the virtually exclusive domain of widebodies didn’t yield immediate results, but Embraer’s persistence has undoubtedly paid handsome dividends.
AAR has entered into an agreement with Liebherr-Aerospace to provide landing-gear maintenance, repair and overhaul for the Embraer E170/175/190/195 series. The agreement with Liebherr-Aerospace, which developed and integrated the landing gear installed on the E-Jet E1 series, allows AAR to acquire and maintain updated technical documentation on the aircraft. With that access and the ability to purchase related spare parts for the E-Jet E1 series, AAR’s landing gear facility in Miami will be able to service those aircraft.
Austria’s FACC and Belgium’s Sonaca have each won contracts to supply parts of the all-new wings for the Embraer E2 jets, as the program continues to gain momentum since its launch at June’s Paris Air Show. Under the terms of the contracts, FACC will design and build composite ailerons and spoilers, while Sonaca takes responsibility for the airplanes’ carbon-fiber flaps and metallic slats.
The second generation of Embraer’s E-Jet series of narrowbody airliners was officially launched and named E2 during last week’s Paris Air Show. Seven launch customers rallied for the christening party, supporting the Brazilian airframer with approximately $17.8 billion worth orders and commitments for up to 365 of the twinjets.
A new firm order for seven E190 airliners from Venezuela’s Conviasa led Embraer’s commercial activity here yesterday. The deal involved a conversion of options from an order placed in July 2012 and raised Conviasa’s firm order count to 13 E190s. It still holds options for another seven.
Embraer also identified Japan Airlines as the customer for an order for four more E170s. With that deal, JAL has now placed firm orders for 15 E170s.
Embraer has chosen Pratt & Whitney’s PurePower Geared Turbofan to power the next generation of E-Jets, the companies announced Tuesday afternoon.
