TAG Farnborough Airport (Booth 344), part of the TAG Group of aviation services companies, has unveiled plans for new facilities that will include additional premium office space available for rent, and a customer-dedicated second entrance to the airport.
Pilots and flight attendants can now learn how to deal with fire and smoke in aircraft using a new training rig installed by TAG Global Training at the group’s London-area Farnborough Airport. The unit represents a business jet cabin, including galley and lavatory, and can start controlled fires in a seat, an in-flight entertainment unit, the toilet and a microwave oven. The automated system, with pre-set training options, can also fill the cabin with smoke. Minerva Simulation Facilities developed it for TAG.
TAG Farnborough Airport is at ABACE highlighting the importance of the Europe-Asia business aviation industry, and its role in facilitating that. The airport is 40 miles from central London, and recently has invested more than $135 million in infrastructure.
Hangar and office space totals more than 240,000 sq ft; FBO amenities include concierge service. TAG Farnborough Engineering offers aircraft maintenance, and visitors can stay overnight in the TAG Group’s Aviator Hotel.
London Gatwick-based Air Partner played a leading role in a major logistics operation when Land Rover chose Marrakech, Morocco, to present its new, fourth-generation Range Rover to some 7,000 dealers from 53 countries. The operation was carried out in conjunction with the UK car manufacturer and marketing agency P&MM.
Air Partner wet-leased two Airbus A319s from Adria Airways of Slovenia to make 126 dedicated charter flights over 60 flying days covering a period between September and mid-December last year. Air Partner has not advertised its involvement until now.
The London-area Farnborough Airport has been capitalizing on the 2011 lifting of the number of movements it can receive annually. According to the dedicated business aviation gateway’s owner and operator TAG Aviation, traffic increased significantly during 2012, and not just because of the biennial Farnborough International airshow in July and last summer’s London Olympic Games.
TAG Aviation has introduced a new measure to manage noise at the UK’s Farnborough Airport. Since January 1, jet aircraft that do not meet the ICAO Chapter/Stage IV standard have been banned from using the airport. This noise standard is ICAO’s most stringent and quietest classification for jet aircraft. To ensure compliance, TAG requires approved noise certificates before permission can be granted to land or take off at the airport. Approximately 300 movements last year would not meet the new standard, it said.
TAG Aviation (Stand 475) is promoting its activities in Asia, Europe and the Middle East and reinforcing the claim that its Farnborough Airport facility, southwest of London, is “the leading business aviation gateway” to the city.
A study commissioned by the European Business Aviation Association (EBAA) and released yesterday outlines business aviation’s significance in Europe and quantifies how its activities directly and indirectly contribute to the region’s economies. The report, which was compiled by Oxford Economics, confirms that business aircraft primarily carry key corporate decision-makers on high value-added trips.
Gama Group has announced the signing of two new aircraft management contracts for Russian clients. The deals will see it operating a Bombardier Challenger 850 and a Boeing BBJ2 on behalf of their Russian owners, taking the UK-based company’s worldwide portfolio to more than 80 aircraft, including several Boeing, Bombardier, Dassault Falcon and Gulfstream jets based in Moscow.
