Duncan Aviation is installing a Honeywell Aerospace Ovation Select cabin management system (CMS) in a Falcon 50EX in conjunction with a Rockwell Collins Pro Line 21 retrofit and full interior completion. Ovation Select allows passengers to control both in-flight entertainment and environmental conditions–including lighting, seats, temperature, galley and window shades–with a touch-screen interface.
Aircraft service provider Duncan Aviation (Booth 208) has introduced what it calls the On-Target Turntime program. The goal: “getting customers back in the air faster” and ensuring accurate completion times for maintenance and repair work.
The first project completed under the program was a C-check inspection and due items along with EASy II provisioning for a Dassault Falcon 2000EX. Duncan finished the job in the promised 21 days, a full week faster than its usual time for this inspection.
Dassault Aviation’s revenues during the first nine months fell 14 percent year-over-year, to €2.229 billion, the result of slightly fewer shipments of Falcons, the French aircraft manufacturer announced today. In the first three quarters, the company delivered 38 Falcons versus 41 in the same period last year.
Though deliveries were down, sales of Falcons during the nine-month period soared by about €1 billion, to €2.910 billion, from a year ago. Dassault sold 67 Falcons from January 1 through September 30, a 63-percent gain on the 41 Falcons sold in the same period last year.
New Castle, Delaware-based Volo Direct has moved into a newly renovated 40,000-sq-ft warehouse and office space. According to Kevin Wargo, the company’s president, the move will accommodate continued expansion and will allow Volo Direct to serve its customers better. Volo Direct has more than 12,000 unique aircraft parts in inventory for airframes, including the Astra, BAe-146, Challenger 600/601/604, Dornier 328, Falcon 50, Hawker 400/700/800, Learjet 35/45 and Westwind.
Rockwell Collins received EASA certification of its Pro Line 4 to Pro Line 21 avionics retrofit for the Falcon 2000 and Falcon 2000EX. The Pro Line 21 retrofit features four 10- by 8-inch LCD panels and Waas/Egnos capability, as well as support for electronic charts and graphical weather. The upgrade is also available for the Falcon 50EX. The first installation is scheduled for this summer at a Ruag maintenance facility in Germany. An upgrade for Fans-1/A will be available next year for these Falcons.
MRO specialist Jets is to further expand into Dassault Falcon maintenance at its London Biggin Hill airport base. The facility, which 328 Group acquired at the end of 2012, is an authorized service center for Falcon 2000s and Falcon 900s. “In the next 12 months we hope to further expand our remit with Dassault,” said managing director Alan Barnes. Separately, at the same site, Jets (Booth 5546) has recently appointed more engineers dedicated to the Bombardier Challenger 300.
Dassault’s series of regional Falcon maintenance & operations (M&O) seminars will take in nine cities on three continents this year. The events offer Falcon operators an opportunity to talk directly with Dassault specialists, engineering teams, pilots and supplier representatives about any topic relating to their aircraft.
Dassault Aviation delivered nine Falcons in the Middle East last year, pushing the regional Falcon fleet to 69 jets. “We are on a trend to increase our fleet by 10 percent. That is what we managed to do last year,” said Renauld Cloatre, Dassault’s Dubai-based Falcon sales director, speaking today at the Air Expo show in Abu Dhabi. “This year, we are into very strong negotiations on many different projects. It’s very good. We are very happy.”
Dassault Falcon recently delivered its first Falcon 2000S in Brazil following certification by ANAC, Brazil’s aviation regulatory authority, late last year. “The Falcon 2000S is a terrific option for customers in Brazil and elsewhere in South America,” said Dassault Falcon president and CEO John Rosanvallon.
Duncan Aviation finished its second Falcon 900B cockpit with Universal Avionics displays in December, installing Universal’s EFI-890R system in the cockpit and Honeywell’s Venue cabin management and entertainment system in the cabin. Duncan also installed a newly designed interior and exterior paint. The flight deck upgrade replaced 25 old instruments with five 8.9-inch Universal EFI-890R displays, which also show engine indications via Universal’s engine interface units.
