I am so relieved that the U.S. presidential election is finally over. The past year—and especially recent months—have been marked by an undercurrent of anxiety, with otherwise-loving families having cocktail-soaked dinner wars and old friends severing Facebook ties over national policy issues. For several years, you’ve been able to book charter flights on the Internet and now, as we’ve reported in Business Jet Traveler, there’s a retail store in London–The Jet Business–where you can actually walk in off the street and buy an airplane.

Local city officials confirmed that three pilots were killed when a Gulfstream GIV crashed on landing at Le Castellet Airport (LFMQ) in the south of France. The accident happened at just before 3 p.m. local time on July 13.

Private jet booking service PrivateFly.com has launched in France, Germany and central Europe, offering dedicated local web platforms, multilingual operations teams and a regional sales effort covering Poland, Hungary, Slovakia and the Czech Republic. The move follows what the company called (but without specifying any detail) a “record-breaking sales month in May.” PrivateFly relaunched its UK website in April, along with a dedicated iPad app that enhanced its existing mobile applications.

Czech ground handling support provider Euro Jet Intercontinental is expanding its operations into Western Europe as part of a new global expansion plan. The company recently appointed Gareth Danker as its new director of global sales and marketing; it also named Matej Gunda head of its Western European operations. Gunda will operate from a new office in Brussels.
