Luanda, Angola-based Best Fly Group has formed a partnership with Spanish company Corjet Maintenance (owned by Gestair) to create start-up company Best Fly Maintenance. Best Fly Maintenance will benefit from Corjet Maintenance’s EASA Part 145 knowledge and experience, enabling the newly formed business to offer maintenance solutions in Angola and the surrounding region.
Slovenia-based charter management company Elit’Avia received approval from the Slovenian Civil Aviation Agency for extended-range operations (EROPS) for its Bombardier Global 6000 and Challenger 605. EROPS approval allows aircraft to fly routes that provide three-hour access over water using one engine to a suitable alternate airport, twice that for extended-range twin-engine operation performance standard (ETOPS) regulations. This allows for more direct routings.
Angola’s booming economy, which saw 10-percent growth in gross domestic product last year driven largely by new oil discoveries and reconstruction after the southwest African country’s long civil war, is driving a rapid expansion in business aviation activity. In response, local handling and aircraft management group Bestfly has opened the country’s first real FBO at Luanda International Airport. It is building a 21,500-sq-ft hangar that it expects will be ready in July.
