Argus launched a new Web-based aircraft tracking system for FBOs last month. Dubbed TraqPak FBO, the new product merges real-time flight activity data from the company’s FlightView product, which shows all IFR flights in the U.S., and owner/operator data from JetNet.
Executive charter operator VistaJet has ordered six more Bombardier aircraft for its planned expansion into markets in West Africa, the Middle East and Russia. The deal announced in Farnborough includes four Global Express XRS and two Challenger 605 jets that are due for delivery in 2011 and 2012. The additional aircraft will expand VistaJet’s fleet to more than 30 airplanes.
Australia’s Qantas has reached a new agreement with Boeing to advance delivery of the first of eight 787-8s it has on order to mid-2012, some two years earlier than last planned. Qantas plans to use the airplanes to expand the international route network of its Jetstar low-fare subsidiary, which expects the airplanes to arrive in a two-class, 313-seat cabin configuration.
An Afriqiya Airways Airbus A330-200 crash landed this morning at around 6 a.m. local time in the Libyan capital Tripoli, the Libyan airline and Airbus confirmed this morning. Flight 8U771, arriving from Johannesburg, carried 93 passengers and 11 crewmembers. Afriqiya said that authorities have completed the search-and-rescue mission and have moved casualties to various hospitals. It gave no word on fatalities.
Jetalliance Aviation Group and Aeroflot Russian Airlines have formed a joint-venture company called Jetalliance East to offer charter services within Russia. Yesterday, Cessna Aircraft and Jetalliance signed a leasing agreement for a new Citation CJ3 and a Sovereign for the venture.
In response to the growing demand for business aircraft in Africa, charter operator VistaJet has launched a regional operation on the West African coast, based out of Lagos, Nigeria. The Switzerland-based company has partnered with Kola Aluko, a West Africa-based businessman and longtime VistaJet client.

Atlanta-based Atlantic Southeast Airlines (ASA) last month launched a new code-share partnership with United Airlines covering flights into and out of Chicago O’Hare and Washington Dulles International Airports. ASA began the service with a February 11 flight between O’Hare and Columbus, Ohio. It now flies eight weekday flights from O’Hare and 15 weekday flights from Dulles using eight newly refurbished 50-seat Bombardier CRJ200s.
