The UK Royal Air Force retired its four remaining Lockheed TriStar tanker/transports on schedule this week, as the replacement fleet of Airbus A330-MRTTs grows. Seven of these aircraft, known as the Voyager in RAF service and provided under contract by AirTanker, have now been delivered. Two more are slated to to be handed over by the end of June.
As already reported by AIN, Dassault Aviation will launch a new Falcon business jet at May’s EBACE show in Geneva. At a press conference in Paris on Thursday to announce its annual financial results, the French group’s CEO, Eric Trappier, confirmed its intention to introduce an aircraft currently being developed under the name “M 1000” but declined to give any other details.
Dassault Aviation delivered nine Falcon business jets to operators in the Middle East last year, pushing the Falcon fleet in the region to almost 70 aircraft. “We are on a trend to increase our fleet by 10 percent. That is what we managed to do last year,” said Renauld Cloatre, Dassault’s Dubai-based Falcon sales director, speaking at the Air Expo show in Abu Dhabi today.
The McDonnell Douglas DC-10 has flown its last passenger-carrying service, at least in civilian colors, after a career spanning 43 years. Biman Bangladesh Airlines operated its final scheduled flight with the type from Dhaka to Birmingham in the UK via Kuwait on February 20, before operating nine local scenic flights as part of the type’s farewell ceremonies over the following weekend.
Dassault Falcon recently delivered its first Falcon 2000S in Brazil following certification by ANAC, Brazil’s aviation regulatory authority, late last year. “The Falcon 2000S is a terrific option for customers in Brazil and elsewhere in South America,” said Dassault Falcon president and CEO John Rosanvallon.
Business jet operator Jet Management Europe (JME) has signed a maintenance support agreement with JetSupport. Under the terms of the contract, the Amsterdam Schiphol Airport-based MRO will provide JME with services ranging from hangarage and departure services to maintenance for JME’s two Falcon 900s stationed at Schiphol.
JetSupport managing director Ton van Deursen said the agreement launches what is intended to be a long-term relationship between the two parties.
FAI Technik has been awarded maintenance approval from the Civil Aviation Authority of the Cayman Islands. The MRO employs 50 people at its maintenance facilities at Nuremberg International Airport, Germany. The site features a 53,820-sq-ft hangar, in addition to a 43,000-sq-ft space that houses workshops and engineering and administration offices. FAI Technik provides line and base maintenance for the Bombardier Learjet 31/35/36/45/60, Challenger 604/605, CRJ100/200 and Global Express; and line maintenance for the Dassault Falcon 7X.
The paint shop by Hawker Pacific at Singapore Seletar Airport has seen brisk business in its first year of operation, and the company is anticipating demand continuing to grow during the this year. Built inside an aircraft hangar with a floor area of nearly 11,000 sq ft, the facility is the only paint shop in the region dedicated to business aircraft. It can handle the larger business jets such as Bombardier Global Express, Dassault Falcon 7X and Gulfstream G550. Among the tasks already undertaken are OEM warranty repairs, livery changes and full resprays.
Dassault Falcon Jet is seeing a surge of interest in its Falcon business jets in Southeast Asia, according to president and CEO John Rosanvallon, who highlighted Indonesia as the latest market hotspot on the eve of this year’s Singapore Airshow. Dassault is exhibiting its Falcon 7X and 2000LX aircraft here this week.
Dassault is preparing to deliver the first Falcon 2000S to be based in India next month, following certification by India’s aviation authority on November 1. The new twinjet will be based in Bangalore. To date, Dassault has handed over 10 Falcon 2000Ss since deliveries started in April.
