Hawthorne Global Aviation Services recently opened its newest FBO at Chicago Executive Airport. The FBO–the company’s third following new facilities at MacArthur Airport in Islip, N.Y., and Lakefront Airport in New Orleans–is part of an aggressive business plan to open executive FBOs throughout the U.S. in major and medium markets. “We have the next four sites in mind, and they will probably be online this year,” Bill Koch, chairman of the board, told AIN.
Adding to its locations in New York (Long Island MacArthur Airport) and New Orleans (Lakefront Airport), Hawthorne Global Aviation Services will officially open its first newly built FBO this month, at Chicago Executive Airport. Construction began a year ago on the Shell-branded facility, which will compete with Signature and Atlantic. The airport is home to 100 private jets and turboprops, and sees 90,000 operations a year.
When the Air Charter Safety Foundation (ACSF) rolled out its Aviation Safety Action Program (Asap) last August it began with just two operators to demonstrate the system’s viability. In mid-May, the foundation officially signed its sixth Great Lakes Region member, Priester Aviation, a Part 135 charter operator based at Chicago Executive Airport (KPWK).
Fledgling FBO chain Hawthorne Global Aviation Services will be adding another location to its roster as it obtained development rights for a new FBO at Chicago Executive Airport (PWK). Hawthorne acquired the rights from Sovereign Development Group and will begin construction immediately on the facility, which will be the third FBO at the airport along with Signature and Atlantic.
