The business and assets of California-based Technical Metal Finishing (TMF) have been acquired by Nasmyth Group as part of that company’s implementation of an international growth strategy. TMF (to be known as Nasmyth TMF) offers a range of metal surface finishing capabilities including precision masking, anodizing and chemical film coatings, passivation, painting and non-destructive testing. According to the Nasmyth Group, TMF complements its four metal-surface-finishing businesses in the UK providing precise, aerospace industry- and Nadcap-approved treatments for metals.

StandardAero Business Aviation received FAA Satellite Repair Station authorization for its new satellite facility at Houston Hobby (HOU) Airport. The company launched the new repair station last June to supplement its facility at George Bush International (IAH).

Constant Aviation has received Mexican Civil Aviation Authority endorsement as an approved aircraft maintenance organization at its Las Vegas facility. “With the proximity of our Las Vegas location to Mexico, we had a significant number of maintenance requests from operators of Mexican-registered aircraft. These requests solidified our goal to secure the DGAC endorsement,” said Kevin Dillon, vice president of operations.

IDG Europe has joined Greenwich AeroGroup’s dealer network for the installation and certification of LiveAero Broadband Satcom systems. Sweden-based IDG Europe is a turnkey satcom solutions provider with more than 20 years of experience. It recently launched a new division of the company called idg.aero that provides global satellite communications for the whole aircraft from safety communications to high-speed broadband and tracking services.

Jet Aviation Dubai has appointed Prabhat Gummadi as its new maintenance director. Gummadi will be responsible for overseeing operations at the maintenance and AOG facility including supply chain management and quality control. He began his career with Air Works India Engineering based in Mumbai, India, where he served as senior/avionics engineer from 1998 through 2005. He has numerous AME licenses and significant experience with Beechcraft, Cessna, Dassault Falcon, Boeing, Gulfstream, Bombardier and Embraer aircraft.

Henry Lisboa has joined Dallas Airmotive as its newest territorial director. He will lead the company’s sales efforts in Central and South America. Lisboa has more than 25 years of sales and customer experience in business and general aviation and the rotorcraft industry. He was previously director of sales at Heli-One, where he was responsible for the sales and marketing of services related to helicopters, engines, avionics, dynamic components, leasing, sales and exchanges of available stock and equipment.

The FAA is adopting a new airworthiness directive for the Bombardier CL-600-1A11. It requires revising the airplane flight manual to prohibit thrust reverser operation. The AD also calls for repetitive detailed inspections of both engine thrust reversers for cracks and modifying them if necessary. Modifying the thrust reversers is also an optional terminating action for the repetitive inspections.

South African defense company Paramount reported on August 13 the first flight of its Advanced High-performance Reconnaissance Light Air Craft (AHRLAC). The twin-boom, tandem-seat, push-prop design, powered by a Pratt & Whitney Canada PT6A-66B turboprop, has been under development since September 2011.
