Embraer Lineage 1000 Sold To FlyingGroup of Belgium

The Embraer Lineage 1000 on the static line at EBACE 2013 has been sold to Belgium’s FlyingGroup. Ernest Edwards, president of Embraer Executive Jets, and FlyingGroup CEO Bernard van Milders, climbed aboard to celebarate the sale of the first ultra-large cabin Embraer Lineage 1000 delivered in Belgium. The aircraft, which will be operated both privately and for charter by FlyingGroup, will be based in Antwerp and operated to points as far away as Kazakhstan, and even beyond, according to van Milders.

Al Bateen Named Mideast Stopover by Flight Ambulance International

German air ambulance specialist Flight Ambulance International (Booth 1047) has named Abu Dhabi Airports Company’s Al Bateen Executive Airport as its preferred stopover airport in the Middle East region. Under the agreement, Al Bateen will host two Learjet 60s dedicated to air ambulance service and served by German Medical Teams. A Learjet 60 air ambulance can accommodate a medical team, one patient and two patient escorts and can carry critically ill patients between Abu Dhabi and anywhere in the world.

Bordeaux-based Otonomy Aviation (Booth 1826) is displaying its CamHD 1080 line of high-definition digital airborne cameras at EBACE. The company’s HD cameras, which can be tail or belly mounted, recently completed DO160 lightning-strike certification, including direct strikes.

GE’s Passport Engine Nears First Run

General Electric is preparing its new Passport engine for a first test run next month, the company said yesterday at EBACE. Intended to power the Bombardier Global 7000 and 8000, the Passport 20 is scheduled for certification in 2015. Assembly of the first engine began in March, and the low-pressure turbine was installed last week.

Bombardier: Challenger 350 To Be Climb Leader

The Challenger 350 will become the time-to-climb leader of the entire Bombardier business jet line once it enters service next year, Bombardier Challenger vice president and general manager Stéphane Leblanc said at a technical briefing at EBACE. Bombardier expects the super-midsize jet to reach 41,000 feet in 18 minutes, surpassing the manufacturer’s current leader, the Learjet 60.

JetNet iQ Analyst Bullish on Bizav’s Outlook

JetNet iQ director Rolland Vincent is “very optimistic” about the outlook for business aviation in Europe, as well as the rest of the world, he said yesterday at EBACE. Over the next 10 years, the company is calling for deliveries of 9,317 business jets worth $257 billion. In 2022, the projected business jet fleet would thus reach 25,937, a 36-percent increase from the 19,016 jets flying today.

African Bizav Expo Scheduled for April 2014

Marking a year of rapid growth since its launch at EBACE 2012, the African Business Aviation Association (AfBAA) announced this week at EBACE 2013 that it plans to stage a business aviation expo of its own next April in conjunction with the Marrakech Air Show. The expo and airshow will be held next April 23 to 26 at Marrakech Menara Airport.

AfBAA’s expo will cover 540,000 sq ft, providing room for exhibit booths, aircraft static displays and chalets.

Air Charter Guide Gets Redesign

Users of the Air Charter Guide will notice a complete redesign of the publication, starting with the June edition. The worldwide guide to charter operators now appears alphabetically by country, rather than regionally. Maps within each section have undergone a redesign and a complete worldwide index of operators will make the information much easier for subscribers to navigate. The two-column format throughout, once reserved for Metro sections, makes the directory more readable.
